Long Studies
Hi, my name's Quizzy. Over the last few years my art has improved fast, but now I have got through the basics, I've plateaued, used to the fast practice and simpler concepts of the basic fundamentals. Now I am looking at materials, detailed anatomy and larger paintings, I know where to start but can't break my rapid, rough painting style. My paintings last around an hour on average, I want to do the kind of slow practice that takes five or six hours. I have tried it but after the three hour mark I lose patience, rush it and leave, only to come back and groan at all the mistakes I know how to fix but didn't take the time to. Examples of my work are on my profile. How can I get into this? Thank you.

looking for critique on colors
I'm not sure if this is the right category for this since I mostly used marker, but I'm mainly looking for critique on my colors. I haven't really colored anything in awhile so it was fun getting back to it. Also if anyone has advice on how I could push the shapes more that'd be good too. ッ edit: I did use white paint for the white, i had some trouble getting precise lines on the hair

Looking for critique - Cake illustration
Hi! So I am back with the finished illustration of the Tiramisu strawberry cake. The concept is to show how sweet and delicious the cake is. The cake is the center of interest. I have two versions and I'm not sure which one is better. I feel like the chocolate details on the whipped cream make the whipped cream look too dark from a distance. On the other hand I feel like it kind of adds more flavour to it, I don't know. xD All feedback is very appreciated! Thank you!

Question about digital brushes.
I want to start a thread about digital brushes and the ways one can use them in most efficient way. I know that people say you can draw with simple round brush but in my expirience using right brush for specific things helps you tramendesly in your work . In this studies i used sargent sketcher brush, that i found in wesley gardener's brush pack, for blocking in and some random soft brush with a bit of texture for smooth gradient transition. . I liked surgent sketcher brush right away and i deffenetly will use it more in the future. Over time i gethered collection of my favorite brushes for different use cases. So what brushes you like to use? How and when exectly(in what paticular stages of painting) you like to use them?

Not sure how to think with objects that has color other than white? (And my experiments...)
Hey there guys... I'm doing some paintings recently and a problem I find is that when doing thumbnails, I often only draw light/shade patterns, so the composition almost always work great in a flat, single-color scene, where basically everything can be treated as some sort of sculpture, and I can add "decals" on top of them as long as they are small and don't break light/dark shapes. But this is not very useful for depicting something more close to real-life, where objects have a lot of different colors and reflectivity. I realized if there's a dark object in the composition, you can't really think of the light/shadow shapes for the composition to work when the object itself is a dark shape, and should be grouped into the "dark region". An example of this would be like this John Brosio painting in the first image attached. If you think of the chicken in light/shadow shapes in white color, the composition would never work the same way as is. I realized this a while ago after I painted the #2 image attached. In there the stuff outside window is basically uniform white, except I tried to darken the road just a bit. It sort of looks weird because everything is the same color, but luckily it works as a whole in composition. Then after this I started doing practices and trying to think also in object color/reflectivity when thinking about light/dark shapes, trying to get that into my thumbnail/composition stages. It's feeling kinda weird, as my imaginative vision is not really vibrant. So I did some explorations like in #3 and #4, where the #3 is a referenced image with my own take on the colored shape designs, and the #4 is a rotated model of some reference images I could find, just to get me comfortable in thinking in shapes that are not in uniform bright color. And today I just finished the #5 image, which I used an old thumbnail and put some darker elements like trees and the road, as well as the clothes that those characters are wearing, It turned out to be much more vibrant than if I don't do that. Though the reflectivity on the clothes still feel a bit out of place, but this is just my initial experiment result, and I think I know better how to use darker colored objects in my composition. I still want to know more about how you guys approach this problem... Do you guys visualize a drawing with light as a main part? Or just as shapes and figure out the lighting condition later to match the shape design you wanted? Thanks guys :D

What do you think about?
It's been a while since I've created my own artwork rather than copying a reference image as I usually do. The painting I call: Agony Of War. What do you think of it?

Looking for opinions and critiques on my art
I wanted to share some of my recent paintings. I tried to experiment alot with portraits (these are 50cm x 50cm) and I actually like how it turned out (I chose some portraits to best express the feelings I wanted to give to them and got inspired from photos on pinterest. The colors and the rest is from my imagination). It was also the first time I tried painting with oils (watermixable COBRA) and did a little bird painting to test it out. I'm working on a copy of the renaissance painting "lady with unicorn" by Raphael (It is in 70cm x 50cm). I'm doing the underpainting with burnt siena plus a bit of Ivory black now. For school I had to draw a bunch of flower studies with pen and ink but I mixed it with watercolor (A3 paper) And the rest is just practicing.. I would love to hear your opinions and critiques! Btw I'm 15 years old and just trying my best :))

Asking for feedback/Critique
Hello! I'm not exactly sure on how to go about this but I've been told that receiving criticism is an important step to improving. If I plan to make a living from my work and passion someday then I need to take the right steps to grow as an artist. These are some fan arts that I've done in the last couple of months. (The last one is my work in progress attempt at creating a splash art style illustration like those at Riot Games). Any ideas, thoughts or advice would help. There's no need to hold back. Thank you!

Looking for critique - cake poster illustration
Hi! I worked on this illustration some more because the composition wasn't working and I am looking for critique. It is meant to be a poster for a bakery with one of their wedding cakes in it showing the lady adding last touches to the cake. I want the attention to go to the rose at the top and the cake so I'd like to know if I achieved that or if the composition is still not working. Also here are four thumbnails of this including the one with this new version of the illustration. I will be very grateful for all of your feedback. Thank you!

Looking for critique about shading and painting portraits digitally
I'm studying painting and loomis head method here but I'm not sure do I see lights and shadows correctly. About the male one, for some reason the halfway version looks better than the final. I would also be happy if you comment on my color choices. Thanks in advance ^^

Looking for critique - digital illustration
Hi! So I am back with another illustration I've been working on for a while and I am looking for critique. I tried implementing as much information from your feedback into this painting as possible. I was wondering - should I maybe draw the roses at the top of the cake bigger? I feel like it would look unbalanced. Thank you!

Any Oil Painters Out there?
Hi everyone! It seems that most of the artists on here are doing digital media which is cool. Most, if not all, of the concepts will translate well. But I'm an oil painter and love it and wanted to follow some other oil painters. Also, I wanted to see if my latest video "Safe Non Toxic Oil Painting // 6 Tips for Your Health can help any other oil painters on proko. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1Jnwn46CLw
