This course is probably the best gift I’ve ever given myself. I’ve even managed to keep up with the schedule. I only have the last project from Level 1 left to complete, and I’ll definitely go back to the unfinished exercises from Level 2. Almost a year ago I also bought the figure and portrait courses. I even started the Figure Drawing, but I gave up. I guess I was trying to do too many things at once. As for the goal - it’s not really clearly defined. I’m learning as a adult person, just enjoying the process and fulfilling a childhood dream to draw well. It will definitely help with my other hobbies too - different kinds of crafts, like designing pop-up cards or felt mascots. I only wish the course had existed earlier - my first attempts at learning to draw were terribly chaotic, and of course I probably made every beginner mistake possible, like carefully shading a sketch with completely wrong proportions.
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

You made it to the end! In this final lesson, we review the journey from clean lines to 3D thinking. But finishing the course is just the beginning. I discuss how to maintain your momentum by revisiting projects and tackling Level 2 assignments now that you have the skills to handle them.

I also share advice on navigating the ups and downs of an artist's life, including how to deal with plateaus and avoid the trap of comparing yourself to social media. We cover strategies for building a consistent daily habit and removing friction from your practice. Finally, I map out exactly what you should study next based on your goals, whether that’s figure drawing, anatomy, or perspective.

Congrats on finishing the Drawing Basics course! What's next?

It’s been a fantastic course @Stan Prokopenko and team, so well structured and thought through. I learned a ton - not just about the drawing fundamentals but also about my own motivations and how my brain works (or stops working) when attempting to draw! Most importantly I’ve gained the passion to keep drawing and getting better, a direct result of the new confidence and to be honest, surprise, at what the course has enabled me to accomplish. Also so much learned from my fellow students, the standard of some of the work has been an inspiration. I still have ambitions that far outweigh my skills and it’s gonna take years, but now I have the belief that it’s possible if I put in the work. Thanks again Stan, Proko Team and fellow students and see you all around in the Proko world.

Thank you so much for a fantastic course. Even though I haven’t completed all the assignments, I’ve loved the tasks, your pedagogical explanations, and the helpful feedback videos. Thank you for the journey. I’ll definitely come back and revisit this course several times. Thank you so much for the effort you’ve put in. You are brilliant!

Stan (and the whole team behind the scenes), thanks so much for the great course! I started in August 2024 and just managed to catch up with the lessons around the time it switched from values to edges. For me this course has been invaluable. I learned so much about everything from gesture and rhythms to shape design and much more. I think the greatest gift this course gave me is the ability to diagnose what's going wrong with my art. When you're learning by yourself its really easy to get stuck at plateaus because while you can recognize something is bad/off about a drawing, you don't know what it is that's causing the problem. Now I can look at a stiffly drawn figure and know that I need to work on gestures and rhythms. I can see a figure and background competing for attention and know I need to adjust the composition or maybe even just the line weight of some things. I feel like I finally have a map and compass. Even if I'm not out of the wilderness yet, I know which direction to steer myself. Thanks so much for this course. It's been an incredible value to me and was a ton of fun at the same time.

Hi Stan! Thank you for putting the time and effort in creating this course. This course has helped me dive into a good amount of different topics in drawing. I def agree that it has given me the basic foundation to go into your figure drawing fundamentals and Rembert Montald ultimate sketching course. I look forward to your next course or workshop! T.P

My biggest regret on buying this course is not buying it sooner. I'll watch this video when I catch-up, but thank you for this course, Stan.

Thanks Stan, your expert knowledge and love of drawing has been a great learning experience for me and has also given me focus during some very turbulent times. Look forward to seeing you soon in your podcasts with Marshall!

Thanks for everything. I’ve been looking for ways to improve my basics for so long, and you’ve helped me so much. Again, thank you.

Thank you so much. I wish I had taken a course like this when I first started drawing. I spent years starting things I simply wasn't ready for. My first (abandoned) course was Anatomy, because I thought watching one video a day would let me draw amazing figures within a month... meanwhile, I couldn't even hold a pencil correctly or draw a halfway straight line. God, that was frustrating! :`D I’d love to say I learned my lesson right then, but I tried something similar again with Scott Robertson’s 'How to Draw'. Thanks to many artists like Michael Hampton, Simone Grünewald, Marshall Vandruff (huge thanks to the Draftsmen Podcast), and many others, I’ve finally realized what I actually need to reach my goals. Your course has finally set the sails, and I’m ready and excited to continue this journey. Thanks again!

Thanks for putting this course all together Proko. I must admit for being the very first course I ever purchased here at proko years ago talking about 2018-19 era. I kindof forgot about the course due to life stuff in the way. then I slowly cameback into doimg some assignments once in awhile. But glad I bought this course overall which helped me wanting to branch out onto trying other courses here thorughout the years as well to help my grow of love of drawing as well. Thanks again Stan on putting this course together and putting the fun back into wanting to up my game again of drawing. Really apprecaite it. Now i'm taking Marshals perspective course which i've had lots of fun with learning from and practicing alongside other courses to now. Thanks on putting the spark into learning drawing in me yet again Stan.
