LESSON NOTES
What's in Premium?
This demonstration focuses on the practical skill of shadow mapping, moving beyond theory to improve your hand control. I'll show you how to map the big rhythms of the arm first, treating it as a series of flowing abstract shapes. We'll cover how to use a mix of soft, firm, and sharp edges to describe bone, tendon, and muscle. You'll learn the critical difference between core and cast shadows and how to design them for clarity. I'll also demonstrate how to use line weight on your contours to suggest light and when to make design choices to create a stronger drawing.

You don't need to know anatomy to convincingly draw the human form.
Focus on shapes and rhythms to interpret the forms. The key is learning to see the difference between a firm edge on bone or tendon and a soft edge on muscle. This exercise trains your hand to capture those subtle transitions, making your drawings look more real.
