In this critique of your blob drawings, I'm looking closely at your edge control. When drawings feel flat or muddy, the problem is often a lack of edge variety. Using only soft edges makes forms look undefined. Learning to balance sharp and soft edges is what makes a simple shaded form feel convincingly three-dimensional and really pop off the page.

The second one has so much more contrast and form. This looks great!
Busy week this week, not much time to draw but I really wanted to make the most of the feedback that I received.
I drew another picture of my ginger root/blob guy, during a few lunch breaks. My aim was to lock in those core shadows and smooth out that shading.
I learned a lot from this and I'm not even in the edges part of the course. I'm still working through lines and just clicked on this video because it was new and I was curious. Holy heck this answers questions I've had about shading since forever! Shading has always been the bane of my existence as an artist. Can't wait to reach this part of the course for reals!

I parallell to this have gone back practice line quality again. It was feeling a bit like i was forgetting it while doing values and edges. When you are doing values and edges are you still using shoulder and elbow? Or are you using your wrist? I’m using the wrist. And after doing that a lot it felt awkward doing lines with shoulder and elbow again.
