What's in Premium?

In this critique lesson, I review student portraits and focus on a common problem: a lack of edge variety. Many drawings look like "poofy clouds" because they rely too much on soft edges and don't have enough firm or sharp ones.

I'll draw over student work to show you how to fix this. You'll see how to use sharp edges for cast shadows and firm edges for bony structures, while keeping soft edges for rounded forms. This will make your drawings feel solid instead of flat. I also cover how to keep your shading clean and avoid messy halftones that destroy your edge control.
