Level 1 demos are done and it's time to move on to level 2! In this lesson, I show you how I would approach the level 2 CSI project.

I apologize if its hard to see. I used a colored pencil to help me feel less intimidated. I tried not to get too fixated on the details. Feel free to let me know how I did!

Nice simplification! You did a good job sticking to just the C & S curves and straights. The only thing I can really point out is that there are some areas where your lines get a little 'hairy.' Specifically where the back of the hat meets the skull. It looks like you tried to use a bunch of lines to finish out that curve of the bottom of the hat. It makes the curve wobble a bit. You might try practicing some curves as a warm up moving forward, so you can work towards making those curves in one stroke. I like to plot three dots on a page and try to connect them with a curve. Overall this looks great!
Here's my camel, done before watching the demo - bit too 'sketchy' I think and I'm still not simplifying enough, but it was a fun exercise. I've been drawing for a long time but I've never really learned the fundamentals, I got by on building up good observational skills and I can 'copy' things pretty well, but my technical knowledge is lacking. I took a break from drawing last year and when trying to properly get back into it recently, I realised I'd lost a lot of confidence, especially in drawing from imagination, because I just don't have the mindset/skills of thinking in 3D. So I'm taking myself back to basics and hoping to improve a lot from this course. So far I'm enjoying it a lot! :)

I think this is a very good attempt, your lines are pretty clean and you didn't get distracted by any details like individual teeth or hair, just nice simple lines. Plus the proportions are good too.
My attempt before the demo and hopefully I can make it better after, but starting to feel good about making lines with confidence again.
It's been a while since I have drawn anything and although I was never really good, it's good to see that I'm somewhat still comfortable with making confident lines. Not good ones, but confident. I don't know if muscle memory is a thing or if I think I'm better than I am, but do these lines look clean?

Yeah your lines look good! You can practice keeping your lines light at first until you find the right one to darken. This will help you avoid double and triple lines because the initial light ones will fade behind the darker line. These are called searching lines and are discussed later on in the course in this video: https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/searching-for-lines
I wanted to practice my lines a bit more, so I did a study portrait of my cat, Freya :))
Actually really proud of both attempts (befores and afters). I felt super out of my league, because perspective and depth, depth in particular, I really really struggle with, (I have aphantasia, and it plays a big role in my struggles.) But I drew the first only looking at the photo, the second I only looked at the photo, but I had watched Stans demo last night and applied what I learned. I have surprised myself - I know they’re not perfect, but it’s better than I thought I could do.
First camel looks more like a cow, drew too big for the paper so condensed/bulked camel out. Struggled with face and deciding how much to simplify. Second skull I did not leave myself enough room on the page, classic rookie error huh.
The first 2 are pre-demo.
The next 2 I did after simply glancing at the final demo product.
It was a little embarrassing how much less time it took to produce the simplified versions, considering how much I fussed over the proportions of the first 2. I learned a lot from all of these. My line confidence with CSI still needs work, especially for shorter, smaller lines.
More practice!

My attemt while the proko demo. I rushed a bit on the skull cause I was dragging that assignment for couple of days. Just needed to finish it . Need to move on with the lessons. I am also working on the two week drawing challenge. But I missed few days because of school work. But if I keep thinking about the missing days I can’t move forward. So for now let’s focus on future lessons.
