Level 1 demos are done and it's time to move on to level 2! In this lesson, I show you how I would approach the level 2 CSI project.

I redrew the photos after watching the demos. Was going to ink the camel but didn't feel like it...

the head took me as long as the rest of the beast ... still not quite satisfied ...

Pre-demo drawing. I don't think I simplified enough! Still had a lot of fun drawing my first skull and trying to focus on line quality

Heres my before and afters. I think I over think the drawing and I tend to erase a lot.

I'm still getting a liiiittle too caught up in the details, but feeling good about how much my line quality has improved since the boot+snail assignment.

First attempt at the camel. Now, to be fair, I watched the video first. But while drawing, I wasn't following along. I watched the video, than did this attempt. Later will try a "follow along" to see how I can improve.

First drawing is first attempt before demo, second is following along with demo. I am level 1 but decided to do the camel since I found it the most interesting. I struggled with keeping a steady hand when using CSI, I think because it is so new to me. I attempted an elephant after this project as well. I struggle with drawing fluid lines and simplifying the subject.

Another push on my attempt to practice and catch up. Far from perfect/good quality lines but good, fun leaning.

Honestly, I learned two things from this video.
1. I have to draw bigger.
2. I have to fake confidence until i have it.

I wonder why Stan hasn’t talked about using the overhand grip on the pencil? I resisted using it for years but now find I sketch much better and looser since I adopted it.

pre demo camel, came out better than expected. i used circles and cones for the rough sketch and then used C,S or straight lines
