LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

Many students avoid perspective because drawing rigid boxes feels boring. Strict perspective can also make your character poses look stiff. In this lesson, you will learn how to apply perspective to organic forms without losing the energy of your drawing.

Marshall and Patrick Bosworth break down how to use gestural perspective to keep your characters dynamic. You will learn to use cross contours, center lines, and basic shapes to ground your figures in a 3D space. The lesson covers practical ways to construct the chest, pelvis, and head using simple box analogies. You will find out how to balance structural correctness with intuitive sketching so your characters feel solid and alive.

Go Go @Patrick Bosworth! Very inspiring, and very motivating.

This was a great combonation on using perspective from what we learned from this course alongside character devolopment Patrick. Just learned a ton from watching this demo and I noticed near midway point I noticed the construct as someone else mentioned of the fun Robo Bean shape we learned from Stans course awhile back snuck in there, highly cleaver talk Patrick. Learned a ton from watchin this demo and will probably put into practice soon.
Patrick Bosworth
Thanks @Stevie Roder, so glad you got something out of it! Looking forward to seeing your practice!

Very inspiring, thank you!! Gave me this idea… still a rough sketch to work on one day, when I feel it’s time. Making me very restless now, so -

I love it! Figures interacting with cubes is my go to sketch warm up! Great work!

Here's my Draw Alongs up to about 5.17 mins in. I must have started too small or got the proportions wrong early on as I didn't have room for the knobs. I'll Start again. :)

Here's another attempt following along. It's trickier than it looks, well for me it is. Looking at the drawing I've uploaded, I can see it's not great, worse than the first! :)

Something about this video that made me feel like I instantly leveled up my drawing yesterday. Amazing content here. Worth watching and rewatching. @Patrick Bosworth We are lucky to have you here with us. I aspire to reach your level of draftsmanship! Also, thanks for always cheering us on in the comments :)
Patrick Bosworth
Thank you so much, @Jules Peppler! I'm honored to be here learning with you all!

I see as well Stans Robo Bean with this connecting lines between upper and lower torso, at 05:50 :) Really beautiful. And Patrick obviously cares also about his linework. I like that too 😍
Patrick Bosworth

Ahh! It’s refreshing to see to see cube perspective being applied to human anatomy! And also the timing of this Bridgman influenced video is purely coincidence as my art studies for this month of September have been mostly from the Watts Bridgman course here on Proko! Kudos to Patrick Bosworth!
