Practicing Perspective
I did a simple construction of PS4 Controller last weekend, at first on top left I did not put center line into my ellipses so a lot of things goes wrong, on the right one, I try to place things better and observe the object more, on the bottom one I try to draw it in a different angle through imagination. Any critics or feedback to help improve in this subject?
@ganzaru
I aim to tame perspective and break the rules so its very delightful to see Israel Sanchez playfully abuse his mastery of the subject into such lengths! Great lesson!

I want a productive hobby that I can zen into, and art seems to be it. It soothe my soul when I focus hours into it. At first I want to just draw whatever and having fun, but at some point, I realized I want to get better with it! Asked some professional friends about tips and that lead to proko youtube channel. After watching some videos and realizing that drawing is not just feeling thing, it have methods to the madness, it can be scientified, it can be analyzed, I eventually became obsessed with Art!! My goal is to be able to draw from imagination, design, illustrate whatever I have in my mind. Right now my imagination is not even a sharp visualization yet so I have a long way to go, but its the learning journey that actually I'm in loved with!

Captain Marshall! I have a question sir! I bought Dorian Iten's course a year ago but haven't started it yet since I thought that it was too soon to jump into rendering at that time. Since that course's materials have been finished, while this course is on progress, do you suggest to progress both courses together one step at a time or it doesn't matter whether the bunny wins or the turtle wins?

I did another analysis with Posuka Demizu's illustration: Diminution: 5/5 - there are lots of keys shown getting smaller to the back inside of the cart as well as lining on the side Atmospheric 1/5 - The planes inside of the cart have changes in color shade, but I think that's it Foreshortening 1/5 - The only item getting foreshortened is the cash register barcode scanner near the character's hand, also its not much foreshortened Overlay - 5/5 There is a lot of overlays happening in this illustration, I tried to separete them into a color diagram Convergence 5/5 - The shapes and lines of the boxes are going away in a very believeable way

If anyone need Graph Paper for Clip Studio Paint, I've found some: Rectangle: https://assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=1864890 Triangle: https://assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=1729628 While doing these, I found that it's still very hard to do straight lines on digital pen tablet-,- How do people get their hand muscles to work as accurately as doing it manually on paper?

Oh wow, using the grid to measure and constructing stuffs are actually enjoyable in a therapeutic way! But one question I have is: Sometimes I feel the need to still eyeball things, especially when some lines are measured in 1.1-1.4 grid (more than 1 grid but less than 1.5 grid if that makes sense), are those inevitable as long as we feel that those are correct, or si there a way to measure them better?
@ganzaru
One thing I notice is that, when using simple light and shade to color the direction of the planes, Trying to blend the color of the Catalyst Plane (the planes that causes the illusion, since I dont know how to call them XD) to the nearest correct plane value, and remove some lines, it makes the illusion stronger. On the left is my first attempt at coloring it, I felt something is not right, so I try alter it to the right picture

Actually, re-adding this line helps the ilusion more believable, Its fun that even one simple decision can help change the result alot!

quick sketch form imagnation, the forms are still very rough on my side, one thing in particular, I havent figured out yet how to define the bottom part of the waterfall when it crashes to the water below it
@ganzaru
Hello, just finished this recently. I feel pretty unsatisfied with the result and since its a digital drawing feels like I cant replicate the chaotic detail feeling of charcoal that Stan used..My feeling is I'm still too afraid when applying shading. Any feedback will be really helpful and appreciated.

Since you're working digital, if you are afraid of shading, you can add a layer with additional shading. If you are happy with it, merge the layers and go on. About your drawing, there is a lot of lining, especially on the chest. Instead of tracing the pectorals, just shade with halftones. Also draw the nipples and genitals, they are part of anatomy, unless your model is maimed. Do not hesitate to compare your measurements with your reference before going into shading, the head can be improved. Keep going !

Hello, I'm recently thinking to advance to learn shading but is on a fence regarding this course: Since I'm mainly a digital artist, does the content of this course, it's concepts and techniques applicable to digital media as well?
Steven Zapata
Absolutely! They're the same concepts I use when I do digital work.

Looking mainly for the landmarks, and on more muscular people I try and add the anatomy but I don't know anatomy at all. Start with gesture so I can still get a more dynamic pose instead of a stiff one. Takes me a bit to actually see what I'm looking for on the body but I try to make every line with intention instead of just chicken scratching. Really want to control my lines. These took me 20 mins total mainly cause I was lost trying to find the landmarks. any tips would be very helpful.

Hi Jonathan, your line quality is definitely good in this assignment! It definitely takes a while to learn to observe where the landmarks are, keep it up! Regarding the scapula, since the person's arms are raising up, you should stretch them more to the side, as the muscles follow the arm movement. Try searching "scapula when arm is raising" on google for reference.
