So, you might be thinking that.. a line is just a line. Right? NO! IT’S NOT JUST A LINE...it's so much more than that!

Line quality in my pencil work is not a strength for me. Looking forward to improving that aspect of my work.

This is one of my favorite videos of yours so far @Stan Prokopenko . So descriptive and neatly organized. Thanks for simplifying one of the more complex tools we use in art (as well as take for granted)

Trying to make confident strokes like you. But I lost my proportions. I made single stroke and focused on line work only. I think it is my first day of drawing.

I can't believe that this might be the first time I actually follow the project rules (I drew it with CSI, without shading, finding big shapes and all. But when I finished I forgot to take a photo of it as it was and I started drawing random shading lines on the drawing just because I was bored

This is really awesome! Love the Bernie Wrightson. I think this is really how we should be doing this: draw the lesson, then apply it to things that interest you, then go through the demo. Well done 👍

Wanted to finish this drawing and found it as an opportunity to practice my line quality...and oh my lol granted, I know the tools are very different (Moebius probably used a dip pen? And I used a Staedtler lead holder {4B?} ) but this got messy... particularly the contour line shading. Values aren't the best either as far as the contour lines. I, did however, find some lines getting easier towards the end like the shadow lines on the walls. But it's a start!

I was one that copied Stan's drawing, so this is my final attempt. After demo & studying his drawing, but I did this one from his reference photo. Glad to be done w/ this pear!

Did some exercises following Bridgman's book. Had fun doing this and I'm also trying to find my mistakes after I'm finished with the drawing. Will try to draw everyday for two weeks but I might not make it since somedays I end up too exhausted from work

My arm is still sore from drawing mushrooms, but I will draw! I have amassed the mass of useless objects that I call my live reference corner! Now I get to actually use them, yay :)

Hi, what exactly does "linear drawing" mean? Only outlines?

Dru Drax
I believe "linear drawing" just means a drawing that only consists of solid lines. so you draw any object and any feature of that object you want to include in solid lines.

Outlines are just 1 application of lines. There are many other things you can indicate with line other than the outer edge of something. Perspective, gesture, measuring and other things I mentioned in the video. However, lines can also be used for shading, and I wouldn't call a drawing that was shaded with lines a 'linear drawing'.

I’m going to draw skulls so far done 9. Most aren’t accurate but it’s okay. This way I can have some mileage with construction as well as basic foundation to the portraits.

Skulls are fun. They always get me at the lower jaw in certain angles, its such a funny shape. Sometimes I have to catch myself and draw what I'm observing and not what I think it should look like.
