It’s time to switch our brain over to think more three-dimensionally for the Depth and Form method. In this demo I'll show you how you can primarily use one method, but not be strict with it. So, I sprinkle some influence from the light direction method.

draw everything in every demo/video and you will get better. You wont improve by watching.

Here's my attempt at using line weight for depth.

if i may, i feel like this drawing could benefit by pulling the line weight boldness to about a third of the boat (right to left) and doing a taper to the back? if that makes sense.. it is very strong in the front but then fades to thin quite fast.. Fear not! :)

I've tried to put into practice everything we've seen so far. I really wanted to draw what I thought when I saw this cat's ninja posture, so there will probably be a lot of mistakes. I started from the rough drawing until I got to the colored design. Any criticism is super appreciated! I think there's something wrong but I don't know what…

Thank you very much @The guy from BluishDot. Working digitally is easier and faster. Now I'm struggling with pencil and ink on paper for the next assignment.

I think these look great! It's also nice to see the entire process, from sketch to finished painting. Great job!

Started a Spider-Man 2099 sketch and figured I'd get some line weight practice in with it. Had fun with this one. Tried doing a combo of hierarchy and light/shadow.

Literally the hardest project ever… does it look better after more variation a bit of depth? I feel that it’s kinda weird. Please give me suggestions! Thanks.

@Stan Prokopenko Hey Stan, mind if I ask a quick question here? I feel like in the image the light source is coming from the right and the shadow should be on the left. But in your drawing you actually put the heavier lines on the right. Is there a reason for that? I am just a little confused. Thanks!

The light is coming mostly from the top and bit to the right. So, I'm making the bottom left lines darker. But I'm mostly using the DEPTH method, so lines that are closer will get heavier weight. The light method was secondary to me in this drawing.

@Stan Prokopenko Is everything OK with the course schedule? The demo was always preceded by the project. But the last assignment was the rhino, not these shoes.

I believe this is because the level 2 assignment was also to sketch from observation with line weight. That's most likely what he's doing a demo for here.

I think this is just another example on line weight and its importance in a drawing. The most interesting part for me are the shoelaces, one side is grounded by an almost constant line while the other gets a more "implied" feel.
