We're moving on to SHAPES! Shapes are a fundamental element of visual language, in fact, it's not possible to make a picture without them! In this lesson we’ll introduce shape language, the idea that shapes have “personalities” and can convey different ideas. Simplifying shapes will be a crucial skill you’ll need to tackle as an artist, as it makes it easier to judge proportions, fix mistakes, invent new poses, among many other reasons. As you get better with basic shapes you’ll be able to build on complexity by combining simple shapes and adding relevant details to design engaging and recognizable characters or objects.

Something round and something spiky combined - I think. Sorry, I’ll wait until the next lesson now…

A still from the Doc Martin tv series. I thought it’s an image that has ‘round and cute’ in it. - Was trying for more caricature or cartoony, but guess I need more experience for that.

Hooray for shapes, looking forward to making more easily readable characters. Seem to always get bogged in the details, making it hard to fix mistakes. Also, Stan your personal trainer must be the best! lol

Can we all agree that bears and orcas are natures biggest design blunder? Like they look way to cute and cuddly for the fact that they would straight up kill you if you come to close to them. Should have put some triangles on them smh

Shape was the section I was most excited to get to, although I learned so much more then I thought I would with line, I was anxiously awaiting for the shape section to start. I hope I can continue to glean as much information from shape and practice my heart out to be able to see shapes in the world effectively enough to be able to break any object down as I learn things like anatomy.
