The most intense 40 minutes of my life. Nah seriously, thinking that much fried-rice my brain. But it was a really good exercice ! And its doable on a lot of subjects !!
Hope you like what I did :)
I'm at level one but I really wanted to try drawing from memory. Starting with a gesture line really helped me to imagine the position of the seals or sea lions. I made some attempts that I did not post here where I realized the gesture line I was attempting really didn't work because their bodies are just not made to contort that way or my ability to intuit or draw perspective is just not developed yet. In the first set of sea lions, I learned about some differences between sea lions and seals after drawing them then I applied my understanding to the second set.
Here is another try at doing these from memory/imagination, after I did a lot more from reference, trying to work the feedback in :)
So, I'm still doing basic and quick sketches, Im not really focused on detail or the proportions, I'm still focusing on the gesture (now I think I got the idea of gesture, but I can still improve). Also, I tried making an image from scribbling, ngl it was ... a little weird, but overall, really fun to do. Still, any tips would be appreciated.
Thus far in my short sketching life, I've done sketching by observation; and, it appears that when I try drawing from imagination or from memory, I seize. Interesting. I clearly need to take a stab at doing imagination/memory more often. At least these shapes somewhat resemble the seals though are not as dynamic as I believe I can do with more practice.
That took a while. It’s harder than it looks, I spent a lot of time searching for the lines.
Hello,
I'm sending over a few sketches from the level 2 assignment. It was a fantastic exercise and a lot of fun! Any feedback or advice is very welcome 😊
I am far and away not a level 2 but I’d like to challenge myself with some of the level 2 exercises. I enjoyed some of them especially the 2nd one. The last one I was… very experimental with that one, I really wanted to exaggerate that neck. I think I broke it. Anyways thanks for yours time hope you’re having a great day :)
Here is my attempt for level 2 on drawing seals. The left image is before the demo and the right image is after the demo. Any feedback is welcomed :)
Tried to think about how to make a seal works ended up juts thinking about the shapes.
Tried to draw some from memory, others from imagination. I think I still lack experience in determining the right shape to make it look interesting, so some drawings did not come out well. However, I had some lucky guesses which made some look pretty good. Still have to work on drawing interesting shapes though.
Did only a few during work and tried level 1 and 2. Tried recreating new poses from what I did but came out similar to what I did earlier. Also don’t mind the alien I drew got sidetracked.
Here’s another batch after watching the second demo. I did 5 drawings from reference and then 5 from memory/imagination (last two images).
Any critique is appreciated.
