Line quality plays a crucial role in our drawings. And if you keep practicing those bad habits, they're gonna get even stronger and harder to shake. But don't worry, in this lesson, I'll show you 6 habits to get you on the path to good line quality.

12/6/2023 Decided to do more practice for today, however I think I’m gonna do more for today after taking a break. Criticisms are welcomed. (I need to do more for the basic drawing course.)

5/6/2023 I just did a little more drawing with some practice of connect the dots with ovals. Tell me how I could improve on them as they feel wonky.

This was an important lesson. I never tried moving my arm in various directions before and I’m noticing areas where i need to practice. For instance, tracing the straight line with an overhand grip going upward was much easier than going downward. The downward motion needs more practice. I will say that my practice sketches line quality is improving!

Day 261: Some really good tips in this one Mr.Proko. I think its really cool to see that im pulling off more confident lines but also even cooler that there is so much that I still need to practice. Overall I think I have a more clear idea about taper strokes and now I know where and how I can improve my line quality further. DRAWING IMPROVEMENT DRAW ON! DRAW ON! DRAW ON!

Did somebody say “messy searching lines”…? Guilty as charged. I think that’s basically because I have no knowledge of building blocks or perspective so I have to keep trying so many different ideas and that’s extra hard if I don’t use messy searching lines.

I think your sketch would improve very much just by drawing lighter till you are sure of wich lines you want. Digitally maybe using a lighter color at first? Me myself think it is very hard sketching digitally. I sketch on paper first. But thats me that havent learned it yet. And maybe my ipad feels to small for sketching. Btw i like your style. It will be fun to see you improve bye learning more of perspective and other things in the course.

Somehow rotating the paper eluded me for a long time. I think part of it was that in High School we only ever used big newsprint pads and it just never occurred to me since then. "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." -Bruce Lee Whenever I'm doing warmups I'm reminded of that quote. In this case, replace kicks with strokes. Though "fear" may be a bit dramatic. I also noticed using a permanent medium like pen helped me to slow down and think. If I've gone a while without trying something in pen I find myself regressing to overly-searching lines. It is a tendency I have to fight. Along with being heavy-handed. Those are my thoughts on what I've gone through so far.

I am a big fan of these follow up lessons that teaches me more about what has been spoken about, then adds more to the picture of things to focus on.
