Practice value composition by sketching thumbnails from reference images simplified to three values. Do five variations per photo, adjusting value groups and trying ideas. Start small, focus on the main idea, avoid details. Use pencils or markers for big value masses. For level two, use tougher photos, maybe add a fourth or fifth value. Focus on value grouping over accuracy; keep sketches simple and clear.
