This was a challenge.
I'm definitely level 1. Still, I'm trying to do the level 2 assignments too. Somehow, the level 2 camel was less intimidating for me, than the level 1 boots..
For the boots, I needed to darken the laces to clear up the mess in my head. At some point, I was not sure what was supposed to be the lace and what was supposed to be background, anymore.
The snail showed me, that my straight lines need to improve. The bord seems to have more curves than the snail itself, in my drawing XD
I still need to do the skull.

I finally attempted this indoor fountain. The decorations on the foot gave me quite a headache. How are you supposed to make straight lines look as if they wrap around a round object? I don't think, that turning them into curves is the solution, but varying their size did not exactly work, either..

This was fun. I really like wizards and this guy's beard is amazing. I wanted to focus more on shadow shapes and abstracting it a bit and less on realism, but I'm not sure if I went too far or did it correctly or strayed too far from the exercise. I'll redo it if I need to and keep practicing. I feel like I started losing some control at the beard, especially at the bottom. I tried to fade it out to draw attention to the face but I honestly wasn't sure how to design the shapes in that section. I do like how it came out overall, but I don't feel like I controlled or was aware of value grouping as much as I should've been. I did separate light vs. shadow, but the midtones gave me some trouble. This is slightly off topic, but when using a medium like colored pencil where you can't erase, how would you approach background vs character/foreground? I might just need practice or more thumbnails, but final pieces still feel intimidating or like I'm not sure what order to work in when doing larger pieces with backgrounds.
I really like your background! It tends to draw my eyes away from the face, though. I'm constantly looking at these zigzaggy lines in the upper right corner. I like how the colours change there, but you probably want people to look at the face instead.
