Tried to apply the rules on a simple house. I hope I got it right.

If you're looking specifically for photos made for art reference, there are dozens. Croquis Cafe, Bodies in Motion, and JookpubStock at some of my favorites.
I also recommend just using "normal" photographs and film stills for reference and inspiration. You can use sites like Unsplash, Pixabay, Pexels, and Filmgrab.

Daily sketch from yesterday and today. Still focusing on using line weight to define depth, and a little shadow.

This has to be one of my worst drawings on this site compared to yesterday, it feels rushed and super lacklustre in comparison to everything else.

I've given it a try! :)

Good idea to take notes on the sketch! and great reference for curves!

I love the fact that you are also taking notes on your sketchbook. I do the same, and even though it takes so long, I find it very useful. It helps me understand and remember better.

Great sketch! I love seeing your dedication this month to practicing line sketches.
A lot of your self-identified critiques will fix themselves as you progress and continue taking other courses. Here are a few things that might help, from a fellow beginner:
- Learn to break an object down into simple shapes. Like you identified in this picture, the body shape is quite different in your reference photo.
- Learn to stop after the initial laydown and fix proportions / shapes. Stan says this is often the most important step. That would have helped you see how small the head was before you added too much detail to fix it.
- Slow down and make the drawing right; go step by step.
Keep drawing, and keep learning! Great work.

Searching for more and better methods of practicing. How you practice is more (sometimes) important than what you practice after all.

Drawing these little guys are really fun! Plus it also makes it easier for me to point out my mistakes.
The simpler the design, anatomy, etc. The less forgiving it is when it happens.

I decided to do some extra work for this time, trying to applying what Proko’s been saying with only Thick, Medium! & Light Lines.
I need to find a way to challenge myself with these concepts, so I’m gonna be sticking with this till I can go towards Values and Edges even the smallest bit.

Time for Depth and Form! I got the basics of what Proko was saying, thought it was a lot harder to implement into my drawings.
Say I’m gonna move on from drawing Line Weight and explore what other options I can learn in the free version of the basic drawing course.

Practicing the Light and Shadow Technique that was displayed by Proko today. I think I’m doing pretty good for all these drawings. What do ya think?

Practicing this technique was pretty fun and I felt great for instantly understanding what Proko was talking about.
I think I’m gonna watch his critique video about drawing from imagination, as I really want to start learning how to construct the many wonders in my mind. (Though my fundamentals need MAJOR work before that happens).
Criticisms are welcomed.

I gave it a try both on paper and digitally. It seems quite flat to me ... probably my lines are all quite similar

Both are interesting to me. Paper version stands out more. Is it the use of more contrasts? White reserves.... Thanks for sharing

I made a quick drawing to see the difference between no line weight, only thick outlines and thick lines where I would put them. The fourth is just adding colors because I thought why not. The dwarve is "Grumpy" from Snow White. Next is the rhino from Stan but I need more time...

I ran across this image that i saved ages ago on my Instagram by James K (@fourhundredml on IG). This shows a really extreme use of line weight and contrast of color to make a very unique and interesting painting.

I really like this one. The very thick lines fit really well. I have to give it a try.

First project that i'm doing digitally - used Procreate and Studio Pen. Still getting used to controlling the pressure sensitivity of the apple pencil. I purposefully chose a brush with no stabilization. Im surprised how totally different these came out when i focused on the two different tasks (Hierarchy of Importance vs Shadow&Light).

@silman

realizing i worded this awkwardly, but Studio Pen is a procreate default brush in the Inking section.

Practicing line weight while still enjoying mushroom and line warmups. Doing a page of warmups before each drawing session seems to be helping my line quality.
