Lots of good tips in this video. I can already see the mistakes I have made in this sketch, such as the top right side of the car does not hit the same vanishing point and the lower left portion of the car causing there to be a weird turning of the car body. As well as I kind of messed up the back of the car in general, as the scaling is off.
Also really struggle with ellipses on the wheels of cars and just ellipses in perspective in general.
But good video and it's good to see a first hand demo of some perspective drawing!
LESSON NOTES
What's in Premium?
I will show you how to draw cars in perspective without using complicated math. Using a 1947 Triumph Roadster as our subject, I break the entire process down into simple boxes and vanishing points. You will learn how to sketch loosely and confidently without relying on rulers.
I also cover how to render tricky details like shiny chrome and rubber tires. I use a mix of ballpoint and brush pens to create a painterly effect. You will see exactly how to use line weight to show depth and overlap in your sketches. I even show you how to fix mistakes on the fly by adjusting your lines and adding details.

I def need to practice many more but once again thank you for sharing your knowledge! Doing the work really make sense after a few attempts !
My first car drawing in decades. 😂 I used an alcohol marker after using the ball pen, it creates an interesting blue color to the black ball pen. I don’t like use my spit lol 🙈 Then I did thicker lines with the ink brush pen.
I think the last time I draw a car was when I was 13 and I drew one for my father. I'm not that intrested in cars but I tried it and found a car that I found cute. First I wanted to draw a japanese Kei car. Maybe I try this tomorrow, because it looks more simple compared to the Mazda Carol from the 60s that I chose.
I think I made my B focal point too high so it looks that the car stands on an angle. Also my first attempt was way too wide looking 😅
Maybe it helps when I put a box around the reference picture, so the box will be similar to my drawing. So it will be a little more accurate next time. I think my perspective was way to off compared to the reference. I don't know. It is really hard for me anyways to draw anything technical related because it is not that interesting to me.
Can't wait to start the topic with the organic shapes where I have a lot more joy and intrest in. But I try to do this chapter anyways, because who knows, maybe I will suddenly like it or it helps me to understand anything else better that will help me for later 👍
I don’t know if anyone noticed. There was a creepy robotic voice sometimes in the video and it said "pizza" at one point. I don’t know who or what it was… 🤔
Tried to follow along , definitely need to practice this morning, and pay attention to details better! Great video . Can’t wait for the next one
