Had great fun with this perspective is a bit off but I’m having fun and learning somethings along the way
LESSON NOTES

Drawing complex objects like a pirate ship can easily turn into a messy disaster if you rush the process. In this lesson, we are taking a step back to tackle a highly detailed ship with a fresh dose of patience. You will see how to use vanishing points and perspective lines to accurately place windows, masts, and intricate curves without losing control of your drawing.

We break down the complex planes of the ship piece by piece. By finding the center and dividing the sections carefully, you can build up the structure before adding in all the fun details like ropes and cannons. It takes time to get these complex forms right, but sticking to your perspective rules makes all the difference.

These are so much fun. It does get very noisy the moment you start adding little details.

Hey Craig, thanks for submitting your drawing! This was a really good attempt. I liked how solid your boat feels; I don't feel a lot of wonkiness in the construction. However, I would like you to keep that diligence when drawing the environment as well! The harbor around the boat doesn't feel consistent with the perspective of the boat itself. It kind of feels like the harbor is on a different horizon line than the boat. I would make sure you know which VPs the environment is receding towards, or more especially, make sure you understand what horizon line the environment is receding to. I drew out the angles the lines that make up the harbor would have to be at to remain consistent with the VP. Overall, good job though, and I wish you luck!
