I found this exercise quite difficult. Even though I have some experience with drawing, it was hard for me to simplify things into shapes.
I can see after watching this that I was approaching this wrong. I'm still not sure if I'm getting it right, I think I need to practice this more before moving on. I think it's starting to click though?
Did a lot of these drawings. Great practice for pushing shapes in ways that will help with animation later
I found this project challenging. But I think there was good progress between my attempts before watching the demo (in blue) and after watching the demo (in red). I think my first attempts generally were too rigid. My shapes were too literal: more triangles than triangular, for example. It helped varying proportions of the individual shapes and thinking about the personality of the character.
These look good! I had a hard time with this as well and the demo definitely helped clear some stuff up.
Really liked the hippo I did, struggled with the buffalo the most, had fun drawing
Even though I am clearly at level one, I wanted to try drawing each animal using the different shapes (I did not do the exaggerated or character designs. Felt like I got it with the rooster but struggled hard with the hippo. Without the reference photo, I don't think I'd guess it was a hippo.
these are my studies of Stans interpretations. I'm planning to attempt my own tomorrow with these as inspiration and guide
Here I have some examples I did after watching the first 10-11 minutes. I was busy, and even I felt lazy, but I could practice and apply what Stan teached in this class. It wasn't hard at all :)
THB, I had a lot of fun doing these simple shape drawings, and hopefully I get to do more (ᵔᴥᵔ)
👋🙌, I enjoyed this assignment, will definitely revist and push designs more with the variations in size and shapes.
