I didn't have free paper lying around, so used the 45 deg angle line trick unknowingly that there's a bunch of 45 deg lines in the comments haha. Also decided to decrease the shed roof's height instead of changing the main house's roof because of a lack of space. Perhaps the shed is tall enough for a small boat now.

Here’s a local barn turned into orthos. I did the side view without the 45 deg angle trick, trusting in my ruler and measurements….then tested with 45 deg angle afterward, quietly confident that it was all precise and correctly scaled…well @Marshall Vandruff you were correct, the diagonal trick would have been more accurate! In fact I stalled on the second major line due to incorrect measurement caused by mistaking roof overlap for wall…thus all other lines are off! I stand humbled and humiliated by my amateurish ruler handling… 📏 📐 😱

Redrawing the orthos with the 45 degree line trick. It is neat, fun, and saves time. But...what's up with the flip effect? How is it useful? 🧐 Edit: The moment I posted this, I think I saw the problem. The 45 degree line should slope up towards right, shouldn't it? That would solve the conundrum. It is night now and I am done drawing for today but tomorrow I will try to redraw it.

Here it goes: Indeed with the 45 degree line sloping upward to the right, the side view is not flipped. 😎

Finally! I finished drawing the orthos for the simple object to project! Good Lord it took ages to come back to the assignment. Anyway here are the time lapses of the different settings: 1rst Session: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DL0WSl1u6AG/?igsh=b3Mwc2kwNmY5N2Fs 2nd Session: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMwPfqcuK-y/?igsh=Zzd6YXdidG1uOXk1

Beautiful rendering!

I just finished my orthographic projection and then noticed this diagram that Marshall posted. That 45 degree angle would have saved some time. Oh well, it was still fun...
Marshall Vandruff
Yeah, that 45° angle came in like a life-raft after flailing in the water for a while. But at least you, Dave, had fun.
Sandra Süsser
Just following the example for now.

The lack of windows is killing me. What are you hiding inside the house Marshall?
Marshall Vandruff
It's William Blake's cottage. He had at least seven windows. I left them out to protect his privacy. I would do the same for you.

I cant believe I watched this and thought "nah, easy peasy! almost boring!" I am learning ! this is the proof: this would have overloaded my brain a month ago!thanks Marshall for this course!😍😍😍
Dedee Anderson Ganda
our brain have been drilled, I tell you! We need to band together and hold Marshall accountable for these geometric cells stuck inside our cranium once and for all!!
Marshall Vandruff
If I had flipped the side-view position horizontally, I could have used the architecture student's trick of transferring measurements with a diagonal line. Dan the animator introduced this into the course for the orthos assignment. It makes transfers faster and (usually) more accurate. See the diagram in this slide...
Andres Londono
Or, if the diagonal line is in the opposite direction, the side-view doesn't need to be flipped — unless I misunderstood what you meant.

@Marshall Vandruff I love these projects! I want to be creative, but as a programmer I just gravitate towards these puzzles. Even if it’s challenging you can also see the results of training quickly as it does get easier with each attempt. Keep up the great work!
Marshall Vandruff
Thank you Daniel. This seems to very "for you."
