I’m late to the party! I learned so much from this lesson. You are an excellent teacher and mentor. The slip-ups were an obstacle, I can’t deny, but it challenged me to understand how perspective and the whole picture plane thing worked. I’ve always wanted to understand this clearer. So thank you, Marshall for teaching me to see this amazing world with an artist eye. My art is improving drastically.❤️. I went through a million erasers. 🤣

Hey you all, thanks again for helping or commenting, you're amazing! Great to see your work again in this critique.
And thank you dear Marshall!
Wish I could find the right words to express my appreciation and admiration for the work you do for us.
Perspective is tough, but you all make it fun 🤗

Hi marshall! Just wanted to make an opportunity to thank you for your teachings so far, it's strengthened my understanding of perspective enough to attempt this painting of my living room

ah @Marshall Vandruff sorry that I didn't articulate my question well. I know that you mentioned the 60 degree field of vision can keep things away from being distorted in both the project video and demos but somehow my drawings still have some unwanted distortion. I did those just like you mentioned in the video and chose a POV that the floor plan can be within the 60 degree zone.
I think it may be due to the vanishing points being close to each other relative to the size of my drawing? The wide angle lesson kind of mentioned and solved my struggle?
Btw I always love the critique video that you showcased lots of students' work that I can learn from. THANK YOU.

Hi Brandon,
Not sure if this is the issue, but you can still go outside of the cone of vision (on the height axis) in your drawing, even if the floor plan is within the cone of vision (because the floorplan doesn't track the height axis).
To figure out the cone of vision in the drawing you can bring down the 2 points where the COV intersects the picture plane to the horizon line and use those points as the width of a circle which will give you the COV for your drawing (see attached, cone of vision in red). (NOTE: This works for 2 point perspective since we are looking straight to the horizon, once you look up or down you'll be in 3 point perspective and the COV will move off the horizon line)

Marshall, thanks for sharing the Plan Projection critiques,
and contributions by others that I can learn from.
Rather than post questions that may have been answered
in your tutorials, I've been reviewing ( something I keep overlooking) earlier lessons.
I'll post questions as they arise for me if that's okay with you.
Thanks again.

May all your questions be answered, even if they have to be earned.

Couldn't even work my way through the demos on this one. Excited to do some work with a camera but kind of coming to terms that I'm going to be limping across the finish line of Part 1, and kinda of dreading what Part 2 has in-store for me. But I really do want to finish the class. I'm surrounded by technical drawing books and never find my way out of the opening chapters of them, this is the longest streak of challenging drawing I have ever done, so I guess I should take that as a win and be happy... Dammit, brain! Be Happy!

Michael, Part II of this course will naturally take concentration, but I think it will not be overwhelming. It will build on what you have already learned, and the hard part will not be the theory (which we'll take in small doses), but the commitment to practicing, one valuable skill at a time, until you "own" it.
Even if it loses a little fun, it will pay off as you develop strong drawing habits.

That feeling knowing that we did and is moving on from the hardest part of the course certainly instill confidence. Cheers for the Character progression of everyone in this boat, the story arc ain't over but moving closer into the climax!

I just finished watching the Critique on the planned projection assignment. Truly loved this assignment as always as the previous ones Marshall. It may have took me some time to figure out how to plan to place the projection of my chosen objects. I feel like I'm learning more n more better n better each assignment now and now can feel the little bit of growth in me as a artist. I'm so looking forward to what's coming next with wide angles n desertion stuff. Looking forward to part 2 inbound Marshall.

Dear @Marshall Vandruff , remember how I said "I can't wait to be done with this" after destroying my brain with the cottage? :D. Turns out, after some days of resting, so many things clicked in my mind and now I already used this technique to figure other things out I didn't understand before. I am hyped. Thank you so much for the explanations, the course and your kind words in this video :).
To everyone else: Great work and push through! It will help you immensely in the long run!

I want to thank Stepka for simplifying the assignment with a simple cube shape. I have gotten so far behind in this course due to allowing life getting in the way. My most recurring thought while viewing Marshall’s lessons on the picture plane is that I need to focus on the ortho lessons before I actually attempt to do the assignment. Early on in the course, and multiple times since the beginning of this course, Marshall has said to simplify. And Stepka followed through and did this! Thank you Stepka!

And… going back to the “How To Create A Plan Projection” video, I see that Marshall demonstrated by doing a simple cube! So, with that being said, I am cashing one of my senior citizen passes! 🤣🤷♂️
