65/80 I think - going to put all of these in one place. About 3/4 of the way through, I stopped thinking of them in terms of lines and vanishing points and began to see them as rigid tripods with 90° angles shifting together. As this happened, I feel the confidence went up and the margin of error got incredibly small. But giving one plane with two axes makes everything intuitive and it’s a big crutch whereas inventing them gives me struggles. >.>

ASSIGNMENTS
Using the images provided, you’ll see one flat shape in the center of the frame. It’s a clue, one face of a hidden cube. From those 4 lines, deduce the other 8 and draw the full cube in perspective.
How to play:
- Find the closest corner first, everything builds from there.
- Read the two clues hidden in the shape:
- Convergence - lines that taper toward each other are heading to a vanishing point. That tells you which edge is closer.
- Diminution - lines that want to be parallel but are drawn longer or shorter tell you what’s near and what’s far.
- Complete all 6 sides, then check the answer slide.
How to win:
You win when you can approximate the hidden planes 20 times in a row with credible proportions. Go and win!

It was interesting. When the cubes were close to the solution, they were close, but when they were wrong, boy they were very wrong... I always flattened the very foreshortened ones. I'll keep track of the complicated ones to try them again later !
It is hard to
-keep focus and every corner angle
-find the horizon line based on the 90 angle
-get the logic to identify the second or third vanoshing point
- identify if parallels taper or diverge

Great tool, I can be wrong in so many ways! but I can keep practicing with it an improve to be slightly less wrong. best for me was on the Ipad.
Which browser are you using? It doesn't work on any of my devices or browsers despite using the websites tips. I tried chrome, firefox and safari on Desktop, iPhone and iPad.
considering they have no stabilizer it’s a harsh counting system against the smallest wobble, but so fun 😭
Alright took me awhile to download the demo pictures and got the first 3 cubes in two days ago. Did this all freehand coming from the demo slides of ones I thought would make a fun challenge which they were. Tried my best on grinding through this challenge. I noticed as the first few cubes I was still trying to figure out the Cube Game, until about cube 6 is when I really noticed I picked up a bit of speed on how to form each clue into shape with ease. I am wondering if I conquered this overal fun challenge correctly or not. But overall I had a blast with this challenge though Marshall. Great fun. Would love some input on if I tackled this how I thought it was supposd to and on how I can improve myself afterwards.

And woah! it is very hard to get it... EXACT. There are so many hints, and when I really focus I think I can get it close. However, throughout all of these exercises, somehow I feel it's getting easier... but the focal length makes me second guess myself sometimes. I have only looked at the solution for one of these cubes, I hope I did alright.
At the beginning of this box journey I thought "how am I supposed to keep proportion, foreshortening and convergence in mind all at the same time?", turns out... it's not as BAD if you just keep at it (and hope you dont lose your sanity along the way).
10/10 - very fun!
An extra detail I noticed is that often if one side feels too short for it to be a proportioned cube, it helps to foreshorten that side EVEN MORE to suggest that it's a wider object, and if you draw through you can see that it starts to make more sense as a cube
EDIT: Foreshorten, as in converging lines more, and/or maybe adjust depth slightly depending on the problem. This is specifically for cases where you barely see one side, and since it's a cube, it has to foreshorten quiet a bit.. often more than we think
Not a complete submission, I thought this one was for the next week, and was grinding the original exercise full force.
Still, at 10%, I only got half of them. Not 20 times in a row, I failed to get 3 times in a row.
I shall finish this over this next week, to ask for help here, because even the first 10 gave me a mental punch that I have yet to recover. After all the work done, I was prepared to face bad proportions, not bad angles as well.
Still, not ready to throw the shield down just yet. I have to fail at 90 more boxes before that.
Like the perfect cube assignment I continued using single lines and pen to draw the cube, and having varied line weights to help the perspective. I show the first drawings followed by corrected versions with draw through and extra line weights. I am pleased with my last drawing showing the boxes unleashed and all done without a safety net!
Alright, I realised that I was supposed to consider the closest corner after slogging at this. I hope that doesn't disqualify me hehe. Nevertheless, this exercise was a vital workout and it's definitely improved my ability to realize the coordinate axes in 3 dimensions in multiple directions. Getting there, while getting up from the multiple stumbles along the way.
I have started up my challenge of the plane game yesterday. got up to 4 cubes n worked a bit more tonight. Planning on doing more tommorow and shall post my overall fun attemps of this fun challenge. Be on the lookout. Planning on uploading my full challenge sometime tommorow afternoon.
Still haven’t finished this one sorry! But I will finish it. This was so much harder than I imagined and I’ve already learned a lot from it I think. Some of these’re so tricky!! I needed a lot of time for these, and some of them needed literally about 10 roughs before I could think about finalising. GREAT EXERCISE THANKS MARSHALL!
This was by far the most helpful and effective assignment on cubes for me. I got feedback right away from the solutions folder and kept applying that in the subsequent cubes. It was also fun and I loved playing the game.
This was hard, and it was a challenge not to get frustrated with myself. :D Overall, I think the area I improved most is the way I analyze cubes. Not just guessing what might be right. I had no problems identifying the closest corner/edge, and I usually had the correct direction in which the remaining sides went. But my biggest problem, besides getting the carried horizon right, was getting the proportions and angles right. This part of the analysis still challenges me.
Found some planes with more diminution were a bit trickier to gauge how much diminution and distortion for drawn planes to still get a convincing result. The trick to make the distal planes as square as possible to assess cube proportions is a revelation….though looking at these the morning after as photos, I see some are still a little bit off.
This was really tough! Marshall was right: that first line is a booger. It got me on many occasions. I wasn't using the carried horizon or vanishing trace that we learned because I foolishly believed I could eyeball it but I was wrong. Once I did, I got a little better, though it wasn't until the end that I got more than 20 in a row. Still, I went back and redrew boxes I wasn't happy with, mostly for proportional reasons. Great assignment!
This was tough! For the first thirty or forty I tried figuring out methods, then I re-watched the assignment video and did the rest free hand except for the starting plane. I didn’t draw the starting plane freehand because I wanted to force myself to figure them out. I find this to be way harder than drawing cubes from scratch.
one question, Marshall. I not iced I could draw a a line between the y lines of the front and back corners right down the middle and this gave me the angle of the line that would be 90 degrees from the horizon line. But, since it often
didn’t work, I ask if here I something to that theory?
