I discovered that zorn or Rembrandt have a clear 2 value separation than for example Rockwell or frazzeta

Lovely studies! And good observation in regards to how artists utilize values differently. Rembrandt is known for that high contrast in lights vs darks to create a dramatic quality, vs someone like Rockwell who really makes the most of the midtone section for a highly-lit feeling, but can lead to a 2 value separation being trickier.

gave it a couple tries then came up with one or my own.
Ben letting my lead dull out. I can do about half of what Marshall is using before hitting the lead sharpener. I will eventually make it work.
it is, I only posted the last 2 tries before coming up with one. but there were a few extra when I got confused and went the wrong way.

For the most lines, I did use the grid. But for one I invented my one invisible grid, to move the knife in the desired position. .

Here’s another one. I tried to be mindful of how the viewer’s eye moves through the form but I’m not sure whether it actually makes sense or I’ve just been staring at it for too long, LOL! I’m still having a hard time designing the shapes in a way that’s different from what I’m seeing in the reference.
yeah , the shape has and invisble force leading the viewer's eye . Your looser attempt looks more fluid .-

This time I started with a more fluid gesture, refined the structure, then tried to exaggerate or alter certain lines to make them more interesting. I’m not sure how successful I was, but I think I’m starting to understand this exercise a little better.
i defenitly feel the structure , however i thik the gesture could be more focused on the shape the animal has
