Here are my assignments 1 and 2 for the robot course. I was wondering if anyone knows a book or reference book that supplies a kind of checklist of categories of details for those of us who are not mechanically inclined. A list of common components, hinges, screws, hydraulics, etc.

My second attempt. Feel free to criticize, but please keep it positive. Thank you!

Did the lineweight exercise :) It was very hard to hold back on just going in with hatching. I tried my best to use very clean, organised lines, normally I do more sketchy lines and I will probably upload another robot head later, where I just go for my usual style. I did my usual thicker lines at the bottom when it comes to the robot head.
Aaron Siferd
Rounded portion of the blocky form looks a little off. Need to invest in a French curve or something similar since my hand drawn lines tend to be thicker than the traced ones are using a straight edge.
Julian Müller
Great exercise, gonna do a couple more objects this way later! Feel like this is a great lesson on inking too, line weight can be so subtle but make such a difference, it's incredible.

I try to think about line weight sometimes but I never really know how to apply it. This gave me a better idea how to do it. I made up some shapes of my own to practice on and then did the assignment shapes, first with pencil and the I tried with a fineliner as well.

I drew along with the video and did the ones from the assignment page. I’ve been working on form interceptions for a different class, so thought I’d try applying line weights and some of the design elements to those.
Patrick Bosworth
I love the combination of these exercises! Nice form intersections, keep up the good work!!

Here is my line drawing and it’s funny how with only three weights of line it Isn’t always obvious where to use them.

Joined the course late. Line weight is fun to me too. I primarily learnt from manga and some technical drawings. Scott Robertson's books were named as the bible for drawing, but it seems too advanced for me, and I struggled in many concepts... The assignments were done while drawing the videos. The organic one looks a bit off, but I don't know why. Primarily in the transition part, at the front of the chair.

decided to experiment with brush pen in freehand again - oh boy did it bite back, had to switch on the way)
Matthew Rawles
Mechanical pencil, I felt going over the silhouette lines again made a big difference

Enjoying this lesson. Finally a clear explanation on what line work is and how to properly apply it. Fun~~

The midline on that chair is a great exercise. Enjoying the class so far!
Alain Rivest
My attempt at hand drawing the reference objects. I ran out of space for the chair, so the proportions are not right.

Looks good. I'd sit in that chair.
