I create lines through the use of rhythmic movement. I did a lot but here are good ones to upload, these are mine.

In this level 1 demo, I show you my process for finding rhythms with quick figure sketches. Check back next week for the level 2 demo!

Ever since I started sketching figures, I’ve been feeling really stressed about it. I honestly didn’t even want to finish the Rhythms lessons. I think it’s because I don’t know enough about human anatomy and proportions, and my figures end up looking funny. Then I bought the Figure Drawing Fundamentals course, and again, it started right away with gesture drawing. Now I’m feeling pretty confused about what I should focus on first: learning the basics of human anatomy or continuing to draw gestures.
Chuck Ludwig Reina
Don't let yourself get too stressed out about it. Learning to do gestures drawings and anatomy actually go hand in hand. As you learn more anatomy gesture study will become easier. And gesture will help you practice anatomy in a realistic way. These drawings look good, and I can see from experience that you are on the right track. Keep it up!

Using a grip I’ve never used before and trying to control the pen to draw what I imagine on paper is really hard. I definitely need to train more in this area. level 1:

Your lines have a nice energetic quality. You’re on the right track. Keep up that energy as you practice!

GREAT NEWS ! If just like me you are not from USA and wondered where to find this "newspaper" paper on which Stan's pencil seems to slide so fluently, I've just discovered that paper for paperboard is just like that and is so cheap !
@thenotsogrim
Unfortunately it took me a long time to get through the second set. However, for the first 5-6 figures I was pretty frustrated, but by the end after watching the demo, I feel like I have become a bit better at this!:) Tried various pencils with this.

A fantastic exercise for practicing what I am learning while seeking to expand my skill little by little. As always, a work in progress...and, fun.
@goldfinch411
I had a fun time drawing those, but I still need to work on my lines; they are still quite messy.
@markplewis
A few more. I am starting to get faster!

That part in confidence is very important. Unlike with lines I feel I lack confidence in my drawing as a whole, believing it’s incorrect and tweaking it instead of following through. Thanks that really made me think. 🤔

Did a few more poses after watching the demo. I tried to be more "loose" and "going with the flow of energy" – it's hard to keep my lines clean and not "fuzzy." Happy that my output is getting faster – even if there is not much improvement in the drawings themselves. It took me forever to go through the original 24 poses (including a mental breakdown), but I managed to do all these 10ish poses in 2 days. The project itself wasn't the first time I attempted figure drawing. I went back to one of my old sketchbooks and found the first figure drawings I did. I am happy to see the improvement from those to now. Still – there is much to be learned.

Looks great well done ! But it's not the exercise,

Oh man, I was scared for this one. Very first time drawing people. Or rythms, sorry. It’s hard but fun! Having to do a lot of them for practice, but I’ll go to perspective first 😵‍💫

Great! I'm working on the seals at the moment and I'm finding it quite difficult to capture the rhythms. But I think you're capable of capturing it, and I particularly like the last one. #24.

Hey there! Another fay another 6 rhythm poses, this time with the additional knowledge of the demo. The drawings still seem very static and I also find myself quite often being inconfident in putting down the line, it was fun nevertheless and I'll be practicing more into the future. :^) Criticisms are very much appreciated!

Here are my attempts after watching the demo. The numbers refer to the images that are numbered. I am still struggling with this, I feel like I am kind of following the contour and not the flow. I am watching the critique video and hopefully will make improvements after. Will continue to do these.

I get it. I feel like I can't escape the contour trap. I keep telling myself that I need to draw through the shapes to avoid it but still. ugh. Pose #19 and #20 look great!

Practice from demo the 1's are before Stan's example and 2's after. I feel like I need to practice more on identifying rhythms more through out the body and try to avoid doing each limb separately. any advice is welcome thanks.

Very helpful video! The section on Confidence (Sometimes you have to 'Fake It To Make It') and addressing Structure were nice touches. Attached are some "Notes To Self."
@mightymike
I really like how you captured the rhythms of the legs on the first one. It really makes me "feel" how her weight is distributed and how the energy flows from the ground throughout the pose!

Im so stuck ... I've been on this lesson for 2 or more weeks . I've redrawn my chosen poses and they are not noticeably any better .Ive watched the demo today , what i noticed is that by the 4th pose you were flowing through . My brain gets in the way and i have to walk away . Soooo im guessing get out of my head . A week ago I was going to cut my losses and give up on this dream , but then i thought , but go where I don't want do something else I LOVE ART , AND I WANT TO DRAW IT MYSELF . So Im going to push through . thanks Stan for being upbeat and positive in your vids it helps when im not confident .

I have no real advice to give to be honest, just some reasurance... i am also very new to this as well and this project is so damn challenging. I felt like i was making such great progress and this truely humbled me hahaha. I just keep telling myself, others have put in thousands of hours into just these gestures and rhythms. I feel so stuck too but hey, a few hundred more hours and who knows. Doesnt make it any easier but just know you are not alone in your struggles! Good luck!
