LESSON NOTES
What's in Premium?
With the line work finished, it's time to explore color. I'll show you my process for blocking in flat colors under the line art. This is the stage to be messy and experiment without worrying about light, shadow, or making things look muddy. You'll see how I quickly test different palettes for skin, hair, and clothing. I also demonstrate how to make big design changes on the fly, like completely redoing a hairstyle, because no decision is final. It's all about staying loose and discovering the character as you paint.

Your color process can be about discovery, not perfection.
Try blocking in flat colors under your line art. Staying messy and loose lets you explore different palettes without getting stuck on rendering light and shadow. This is a great way to find the character's personality.
