Thanks again Daniel and Marshall.
Here's my attempt a Pitching Box Flaps.
The Drawing and the a tracing of the drawing.
Gosh it does get confusing with overlaps.
Again my follow along effort doesn't match with
the video. The ellipses are off for sure.
How do you manage complex!
I'd definately like to better understand the placement of
Ellipse reference points within the large square.
I'd also like to know where I'm going wrong with the initial boxes
with respect to the video. If I see a box and it's vanishing points,
what's the best procedure to follow to recreate the same box.
I'm enjoying the tutorials and hope there's more to come on the same subject.
:)
LESSON NOTES
What's in Premium?
This premium lesson covers how to draw box flaps that pitch forward and backward on the X-axis. The instructors demonstrate how to draw boxes above the viewer's head and accurately construct open flaps using vertical traces and ellipses. The lesson shows how to track the path of the flaps so they maintain their correct proportions as they open and close. It also breaks down how to use squares to control ellipses and find the correct vanishing points for flaps in different positions. This method trains the eye to understand the mechanics of rotation in perspective. Practicing this construction builds the skills needed to draw complex open boxes and doors with accuracy.

A more loose freehand pitching. First time just estimating the ellipses.
I still wonder if there’s a system in which VPs of which flaps are on the right and which on the left (depending on the placement of the box). But maybe it’s not necessary once you’re more skilled.
@Sita Rabeling
Did you draw both ellipses construction lines (squares) first?
I ask because it's difficult to see the further side for flaps.
:)

Getting the ellipse grid to the other side is so tricky!
Yes, It's hard to see through to the other side, I have the same issue
I wonder if you can address all the large ellipse squares first,
Then going on to add the ellipses followed by the flaps ?
i am seeing the light !😎😎😎😭😭😭🥂🥂🥂thus course is amazing, thanks @Marshall Vandruff if only i could remember which side is x (it changes depending on schools and 3d apps!)
My trick is "Tall like a Y, wide like an X, the other one is Z". Tall is up and down, wide is side to side.
