I've been reviewing the Yaw video again.
I'm finding it visually difficult to see how Daniel develops the
reference points for the ellipse from the square and rectangle, because in the video the construction lines are extremely faint, well for me that is.
I realise the drawing it's not meant to be perfect but I'm not understanding the choice of line intersection to place the ellipse reference dots on. The resulting ellipse looks distorted.
I have to say. I was a bit tired after drawing my daily 5 boxes flaps, that I decided instead to go wild. Draw tumblinb boxes, connected only on a single edge. I have only drawn floating rotating boxes up to now, since I did not get them.
What do you know. My tumbling boxes on a napkin looked more real and pleasing than one of the several thousand boxes I have drawn over these many years.
And after all these flaps, I returned to rotating boxes...and they looked rotating finally, after what must have been almost a decade, I FINALLY drew convincing rotations. Proportion was a bit wrong (boxes kept getting smaller) but WHO CARES. They rotated! I did it again 3 hours later on a scrap piece of paper in a teams call. I mean, you don't go from failing at rotation to just drawing it in one go randomly in a break, right? Was probably luck or a fluke.
Well...it worked. And again, in the bus, wonky and shaky on my notebook with a pen, again worked. Wrong sizes, but rotating.
And I didn't even practice rotation. Only flaps.
If this is the last thing I ever get out of this course, I am extremely Grateful I took part in it.
And I am sure it won't be.
Yawing exercise after watching the video. Eyeballing the squares for the ellipses and then the ellipses themselves works so much better (image 2) than precise measuring (image 1) lol.

I'm finding the last two lessons tricky.
It's getting the proportion of the box with respect to the elipses.
I keep drawing a box that's either not long enough, or not deep enough, I think.
The box being the foundation, if it's wrong, the rest not working out.
The faint green construction lines make the video difficult to follow,
but I understand why Daniel has done that as heavy lines turn into a mess
as the construction continues.
The red flaps end up the wrong proportion.
I think that's due to not forming the elipses correctly,
taking me back to the initial box ...more thinking :(
I'll keep at it but if anyone can shine some light on the foundation construction, please do.
It's great watching the video but I'm missing something and it leads to poor proportion.
I'll follow along a few more times before posting a drawing.

I think I have the same issue - how do you turn any rectangle in perspective into a square in perspective, accurately, so that you can draw an ellipse accurately, so that you can draw a flap accurately??!
There seems to be so much room for error on the ellipse, that you probably are not getting ‘accuracy’ in the flaps, but you get them to look right enough.
But why not just learn to eyeball the flaps instead of eyeballing the square and ellipse as a first steps, since accuracy is not really the point?
