We have all of Marco's courses here (https://www.proko.com/@marcobucci/courses) but we're about to launch a bunch more of his courses pretty soon. Hopefully by the end of the month so if you follow Marco on this site you'll get an alert when those all launch.
Hello I have purchased the course! Is there a session on skin painting. Painting different skin tones
•

We don't have a section on painting skin specifically but there are several sections in part 1 of the course where the digital lessons are being demod/taught using figures. The Materials section also goes into detail on painting different surfaces and you could apply those lessons to skin. Hope that helps!
Hi! I'm considering buying this course, but I have a few (possibly silly) questions:
I'm currently finishing the Value section of the Drawing Basics course, and I've also studied some fundamental figure drawing and anatomy. Do you think this course is appropriate for my current skill level?
My second question is a bit more important: my goal is to draw in an anime-style (Japanese 2D style), while this course seems to focus more on realistic rendering and painting. I'm wondering whether this course aligns with that goal.
To clarify — I really love Proko's teaching and I absolutely believe that fundamentals are universal, regardless of style. But since the second half of this course seems to go into more advanced techniques, I'm not sure if I should go for style-specific learning at this stage, or if this course would still be a good fit for me right now.
Or if there are other Proko course recommendation?
Thanks in advance!
Can beginners take this course? Do I need to have any art knowledge beforehand or will this course teach me everything that I need to know, including the basics? For example, I know little about figure drawing, character art and drawing faces right now. I also know little about drawing basics and fundamentals. I'm interested in drawing from reference, imagination and a combination of both. Is this course appropriate for me? I'm thinking about taking this course along with the Drawing Basics course by Stan Prokopenko.

This course is definitely for beginners getting into digital media, though I'd probably go through at least a bit of the Drawing Basics course before jumping into this one. If you look at the lessons, we go through all the basics of drawing/painting digitally, but we also jump into figure drawing/painting as part of our practice and you'll likely want to have a bit of figure practice under your belt before trying to learn that + a new medium.
If you get through the Shapes section of the Drawing Basics course you'll be in a decent place to start this one and you'll be in an even better place if you get through the Values section as well.
Hope that helps!
Will the advance tips and techniques be specific to Photoshop? Would I be able to translate those into the tool I’m using (ie. Procreate)?
Question... Is this course doable with a digital tablet? Do I need a Cintiq or a Wacom? I would really like to use a digital table if possible.
•

Yes! you do not need a Cintiq, we just use one in our studio. It really comes down to what tool you're most comfortable with and the Cintiq is just a useful tool to bridge the gap between drawing traditionally and drawing digitally. We've had instructors who prefer to use an Intuous tablet because they've mastered not needing to look at their hands and can really accurately draw and make lines with that.
Hopefully this isn't a dumb question, but I am currently watching the painting in color with blending modes lesson. I was just curious when he is blocking in the occlusion shadows with a multiply layer why that is more efficient than just painting in the shadows on a layer in normal mode. I get using the blending modes when the values have already been established, but why use the multiply blending mode from scratch?

For that lesson, it was more to show off how you can use blending modes vs showing what the most effective approach is. Jon wanted to show a technique that could help students understand the different photoshop options and there are a lot of artists who use blending modes in that manner. There are instructors in the second half of the course who paint in normal mode just like you mentioned! Hope that helps
hi , i have a question i wonder when the whole bryce kho part will be avaliable?
"I am considering purchasing this course. Will I receive a completion certificate or a nationally recognized document after finishing the courses?"
I want to get both courses in the near future but I am unsure to why are both of them $100 when the "Digital Illustration and Advanced Techniques" Course has only 2 lessons? Thank you!
the course is work in progress and will be updated when there are new lessons
Hello there!
i‘ve seen Stan‘s update post here, but I‘m still on the fence of buying this course. Is this being completed?
Interested in getting this course but I feel unsure tbh. Is there a schedule for future lessons? Is there more to be published in part 1?
What are some alternative courses?

We've got some news regarding the digital painting course.
First off, the not-so-great part - Jon Neimeister won't be able to wrap up the remaining lessons of the course. We know many of you have enjoyed his insights and teaching style, and it's a bummer not to have him finish up the course. However, life throws curveballs, and we're committed to delivering the quality education you signed up for.
The good news - we've put together a team of digital painting instructors to take over and finish this course. We selected artists that specialize in each remaining topic. It will move much faster since multiple artists will be working on videos at the same time. Producing this course is at the top of our priorities right now.
Stay tuned for more updates about Jon's replacements, and as always, we're here if you have any questions or need a hand with anything. We appreciate your patience and understanding,
Stan and the Proko Team
Definitely bummed, Jon Neimeisters' the best art teacher I've had. I'm not sure what exactly worked but the things he taught just seemed to click for me, and I constantly find myself applying tips and techniques he taught throughout all of my illustrations since then. That being said, I completelyy understand life throwing curveballs and I wish the absolute best for Jon, and am incredibly grateful for what he was able to teach and share with us <3
I appreciate you guys continuing the course and putting it at the top of your priorities
It's good to have this update. Now I sincerely hope that the teachers selected will deliver a quality result while respecting the original curriculum. What interested me in Jon's format was the advanced techniques of material rendering, light rendering and edge control. I hope you'll get a Riot artist or Legend of Runetterra for the advanced part. They're the best out there (Esben Lash -Rudy Siswanto - Jessica Oynehart - etc)
PS: Add a few extra lessons for the wait and subtitles if possible
it would be nice if they added subtitles ,like in other proko courses, since they are updating it. For those who are not native speakers of English it would be an extra help. (at least have English subtitles)
is this course cursed? Iam glad I hasitated to jumped in since this course dropped. Wanted to buy it whole but here we are 2 years later :( really sad
Hey, @Michal Velart @spadeydraws and @William Mclean! Thanks for your patience and apologies on our silence. But great news...@Stan Prokopenko just posted an update on the direction of the course! It took some time to sort out what direction we were gonna take, but there is alot of excitement and momentum over here at Proko to get this course DONE!
I wanted to get it too. But it hasn't been updated in a year. And he hasn't posted anything in response of why he has an updated it yet, aside from that post he did from last year.
why part 2 took so long to have an update or announcement ? I just dont know when it will be released to buy whole bundle.
I hope we are going to get updates soon. Is Jon alright ?
Hi, @blankfuture Thank you for your patience. Stan just posted an update on the future of the course!
What are the prerequisites doe this course i saw a potrait in the thumbnails of the vidoes do we need to take the potrait drawing clss also and is the figure drawing fundamentals course enough or do we need to take the anatomy course as well because i noticed you added muscles in the sample cideo. Also im about to purchase a screen drawing tablet. Is the feeling very different from paper does it feel like the pen is dragging the line drawn
I wanted to say thank you for making the painting in greyscale lesson available to everyone, it is the best explanation of tones ever!
I took the ideas you taught in that lesson and I was able to do this on paper. I’m no artist-I maybe draw a few times a year, and was always bad at it. After seeing what happened after just one of your lessons, I purchased your digital painting course immediately.
I’m excited to go through this course!

Hey, everyone! I hope you've all had a fantastic start to the new year and are excited to dig into the next segment of this course. I wanted to give a quick update on our plans for this year as there's been a slight change to our production schedule. I've accepted a new job on Hearthstone which is very exciting but also means I have to move across the entire country, which has been consuming every waking moment of the past month or so. As such, there will be a bit of a delay in the release of the next episodes until I can get settled into my new place and re-establish my recording setup.
We have a LOT of great content coming for the course this year that I'm super excited to share, and I want to be sure I give it 110% effort rather than squeezing it in between a million other things. I do apologize for the delay, but I can promise the next section is gonna be awesome and well worth the wait. Thank you so much for your patience, and I can't wait to continue painting with you in 2023! <3
Hey Jon! How are you going on your new place? I hopewell! I can´t wait for to see all the amazing lessons on the second part of the course (the first part was really a masterpiece!!)
Ah, I didn't notice this comment until now. I hope you're doing well in your new environment.
I've re-watched the Part 1 lessons and challenged assignments again and again, and every time I played the videos it improved me because I realized how many things I forgot or didn't understand well so I felt as if the course were always active so far.
I keep practicing hard to prepare myself for the release of the next episodes!
Oooh so that's what you teased when you announced that you were leaving HiRez, I was quite curious 👀
That's awesome 😊 wish you the best at your new job
And I second what Nicole Drews said, pretty much sums up my thoughts
