Hi everyone! For this assignment I decided to try to find ф shoulder bones inside the human body, The hardest part was to find a scapula position. but I think that when I'll learn shoulder muscles better I'll try to make a second approach.

Looks like a pretty good job to me, @Eveline Rupenko! Solid forms and coherent representations of the motion of the scapulas and their relationship with the clavicles overall. I’d do just one thing differently in the last two ones: try to push the clavicles a bit more towards the front in order to show the protraction. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Its been a while since I posted so revisiting shoulder bones! Looking forward to start shoulder muscles soon!

Quick feedback. Seems the clavical is not lining up with the ribcage. The perspective does not match. Also, if the near side is too large and too high up the page; This level of foreshortening from front to back means a very low focal length or fisheye lens. Try to keep the bones in line with the left vanishing point that you established with the ribcage. Also note because the clavical was off, so are the scapula which completes the shoulder girdle structure. Lastly, the S shape of the clavical is more subtle. Don't overdo it. Use reference when in doubt.

I think i need to grip my pencil less hard and lay in softer, but it’s taking all my mental energy and fortitude to do so. I think I’m going okay with these forms, but I definitely need to practice them more.

This is a bit of a response to the very helpful and much appreciated feedback from @Dwight over in the ribcage section, I’ve been focusing on not making the lumbar section too long in my drawings - so here’s some examples of that. I’ve also been thinking about my technique aside from anatomy and constructive drawing - I’m tackling the problem of being too heavy handed and just trying to meditate on lightening my grip on the pencil for my lay in so that my lines are legible in the final construction. I’m gonna move onto muscles now and not try to stay too stuck into the skeleton because i’ll be drawing that anyways before i draw the muscles overtop, so looking forward to that and good luck to everyone else on their anatomical art adventure!

this lesson is really challenge but keep going everyone

Yeah, it is really challenging!!! I struggled with it a lot, but know it is my favorite part of the skeleton :) It's really cool😎
To get a better understanding of the scapula it helped me to practice drawing it from imagination; in a simplified format. Just to play around with it's range of motion and relationship to the other bones.
I came up with a mass conception of the scapula last year that I'm really happy with. I attached an image of it, in case you find it useful.
Hope this helps :) Keep up the good work!

Feeling like the right scapula is not okay on this one, somehow. Maybe too close to the spine.

Hi Sarvesh. Remember that the clavicles are located above the first rib on the rib cage. See attached image. On your first and last drawings, the rib cage hole and clavicles look oddly placed. Good luck!

Did a tracing over the reference to study scapula and tried to figure out muscles. How did I do?

Nice studies!
The question mark is the latissimus dorsi. You'll learn more about it in the lower back lesson.
Hope this helps :)

Never drew all the intricacies of the scapula before! Super cool bone! Let me know any improvements I can make.

"Super cool bone!" Yes, isn't it? I really like the scapula, but I also found it very difficult to learn how to draw. I spent a lot of time with it and we developed a strong bond 🤣
Anyway, nice studies! Got nothing to critique really :)
I attached an image with a mass conception of the scapula that I'm really happy with. Maybe it can help you when drawing it from imagination.
Cheers!

I think what would make this tutorial easier to follow, would be if Proko were to overlay a line diagram (such as at 01:32 and 06:02) on top of the model's body before drawing. I'm finding it quite hard to tell where the boney landmarks because the muscles are so distracting! It would be good to see a diagram in its entirety, or an x-ray directly on the model alongside the demo drawing.

I think it could've been beneficial for us to see a demo of a simplified scapula. Going into the assignment, I really felt like I had only been taught how to simplify the clavicle.

your scapula is a bit too small, but the foreshortening is verry well done

Probably this assignment is still too hard for me, but I wanted to finish it - before watching the critiques - and I hope that I used some of the great tips Joao gave me here. Maybe I will understand more of it or see it better the more I draw. I will definitely keep all the comments I got in mind. So here is what I did the last few days. I see mistakes but don't know how to correct them yet.

Did two iterations. V1 and V2. After I was satisfied I tried to add it in in anatomy study.
