great lesson, i also watched the interview. im downloading and will post. i haven't been on a timeline but i will do better to post them and stay on timeline working lessons. thank you. and yes i did really notice a difference in face come alive it looked like a touch of pinkish fleshtone as it should on nose and cheeks. cant wait to do this lesson!.

This was an eye opening lesson. This is only the first stage but it already looks so close to finished to me. I’m appreciating the power of edges!

I redid the assignment. Hope the edges are better now.

Here Is what I have. I feel like I needed to blend It out more. I had fun with the highlights and color. Sorry I wish I had my none colored and highlight one here. hope this one still works for you. Just a side note here. I remixed the skin average light again. I know I had some in a container, but I wanted to play around with the mixing and matching part a little. I feel like mixing the four colors together and matching up stuff Is good to do, so I just tried to remix the average dark and light again just for little more practice on that part. But I did stick with what the main assignment was about. Blending the edges, and trying to see the effect of how much you can get from blending. I think I could see the effect of the egdes and the blending kinda working, Anyways thank you for the lessons.

Really good lessons so far, really feel like i'm learning lots. Not quite sure when to call it quits with the initial charcoal drawing and move on, feel like they end up a little rough. But not trying to spend too much time on them either. I also have a question about blurring edges with your finger, is it advisable when using toxic pigments like cadmiums?

I missed this assignment while doing the first one and went back to do it. First stage of average light and dark shadow only and softened the edges with my finger. For the greyish skin tones I couldn't paint over the wet paint very effectively so I ended up smudging away the warm average light paint on the outer edges to bring back the grey of the gesso board. I was able added some skin highlights.

My attempt at focusing on edges. Fun! Felt like there was a high risk to start confusing shadow / dark when working with the softest edges. Drawing without grid was a good practise at least. 😅
