At first, I created a thumbnail as he suggested, and it helped me figure some things out. But since I'm a beginner, things didn’t really work together. Anyway did the second one.

First attempt. Getting the hang of the digital medium.

First attempt. Forgive a lot of this not being cleaned up since I just checked the clock and oh god it is 1:30 in the morning I lost track of time

First attempt at drawing. I shall use this as a benchmark and come back to it and the portrait to see the improvements I can make through the course. I had difficulty simplifying the shadows and proportions.

After Watching Demo, I drew this Portrait of Marilyn Monroe. I'm not Fully Happy with the results. But i will keep drawing Portraits.

I spent about 45 minutes on the outlines.... don't knowhow to get up to 1h30m. I guess I need to work on measuring proportions more carefully.

Obviously, I am not yet good with values. I will continue practicing, of course.

Played with the pear in the previous lesson and challenged myself with the guy's portrait. Before the demo is on the left (sorry, dude!), after—on the right. What is the top thing that needs to be improved?

This is my first real attempt at drawing using values and angles — technically my second one after the pear😅 I find these studies full of helpful insights! Thank you, Stan!

In my first attempt to draw it, I used six values instead of five. It's hard for me to limit the number of values without planning ahead, so doing a small thumbnail sketch really helps. However, using a pencil feels more time-consuming than using markers, and it also makes me want to add too many details.

before watching the video I accidentally smoothed out the lighter shades. Getting the contrast between the dark and even darker lines is interesting task.
