My first attempt without watching the demonstration is on the left. Ashamed to say i got fustrated and loss interest in finishing. My second attempt was much more successful.

Does it matter the direction that i shade in? Can i shade left to right and then up to down on top of that?
perhaps not at this stage, but in general that direction may be used as a tool to shape the form
