I had a pretty successful attempt I think. The main problems I see are that his right eye is a little too high and the slope angle of his shoulder is waaay too shallow. I tried just to judge that angle and I got it a bit off. The other stuff I really tried to measure. Not bad I hope??

My first attempt. Chose Dave Malan as his drawings show how different lines can be connected and blended without being detached. Still need to work on my line quality. This drawing definitely teaches how to use different values. Would love to get some feedback please.

The Martin French drawing uses energetic lines that look like they were executed quickly with lots of dashes, corners, and noise. The Gary Villarreal lines are flowing, sweeping and subtle. It was difficult to replicate the sweeping curves of the second drawing.
It felt good to break away from the usual shapes and lines my hand naturally draws when I'm sketching on my own. A great challenge.

I studied a Rembrandt self portrait and a drawing by Egon Schiele. I tried to be patient and replicate the strokes. Pleasantly surprised.

Oh man… This one was rough for me, it was really easy to do the snail but the shoes were difficult. I blame myself mostly for not leaving enough room to make the correct proportions. It got to the point I almost gave up and redid the whole process, but I decided to follow through because I want to see my flaws. And this one helped me understand not to be stingy with my sketch book. Any critiques would be more than welcomed on this one…

The snail took a few tries. The boots I like but the laces feel messy. Couldn't help but add some hair on the camel lol.

This is my first real attempt at drawing using values and angles — technically my second one after the pear😅 I find these studies full of helpful insights! Thank you, Stan!
