Coming back here to show some progress since last time. I have continued with Patrick’s teachings and replayed a lot of this videos and went to his other courses. I find it very helpful to warm up by watching his videos and then trying to implement it in my own work. This is a piece I have done by using a online model reference. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Beautiful work, Craig. Your hard work is really showing through! I wanted to point out two things — the thickness of the right thigh can be increased here to match the left, and you want to make room for the three finger gap between the asis of the pelvis and the skin fold of the thigh where the femur is bending up. It’s just a bit too high on the right leg here.

So, wowza, really enjoyed the course and tried to draw along as much as possible. I just finished Stan's Anatomy course and wanted to put my new knowledge to work with a medium I havent used before: Charcoal on newsprint. I really struggled in the beginning. I have the feeling that your lines are so much smoother (softer edges) but also that you really can make them thin with hard edges whenever you need. I didn‘t have that edge control. Although I compared in the videos how your pencil tip looked and it was pretty the same as mine. I used the Conte a Paris HB and a no name smooth newsprint because the strathmore newsprint took forever to be delivered. It will arrive in end of May and I will try again if it was the paper that made my edge control so bad. Maybe you can go even more into depth regarding the grip of the pencil and how you achieve such a great edge control. Weirdly enough, at the end I always struggled with what seemed to be little grains in the pencil that stopped me from having a smooth flow on the paper. At some point it happened so often, that I wanted to pull out my hair out of desperation. Anyways, I did more than the drawings here, but the upload is limited to 20 photos, and I had more than thirty. My best ones are the last ones. Happy for any kind of insights. Your work is really stunning. I will go back to do many lines many times :).

These look incredible! The smooth newsprint paper will help with the soft edges. You’re learning a new tool, so it will take some time to develop the dexterity. It looks like you’re getting it though! I love how you ghosted the forms in and drew through. These drawings look very lively and fluid.

Can't thank Patrick enough for sharing his knowledge in this course. I used reference from the Draw This figure drawing livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up8A2wmdFzU&t=4766s

This one is from Potion 6. I wanted to try to push myself a bit and decided to use Patrick's painting as a reference for a study while thinking about understanding the shapes and getting to that point between what we know and what we see, hope I did some justice to it. Thank you again Patrick :)
Rachel Dawn Owens
You did great! I love how you carefully rendered the forms on the back and arm. The ripples through the anatomy look really cool. The shadow edge going around the glutes could be a bit softer. The value change feels a bit too sharp there. Keep up the studies. This is a wonderful sketchbook page!

@lucastoonz86
hello, learned lots and got very inspired to learn anatomy and tools from this class, i will keep practicing
Rachel Dawn Owens
Wow! This is a beautiful drawing! Heres a little tip that could help level up this drawing. Just adding a ground for the figure to stand on could add a lot of depth to the composition. Keep it up! Great work completing the course!

51 year old Apprentice wizard here. I have completed the wizard course and fantasy female course and several from Patrick's website. I can't even put into words how happy I am to have found Proko and Patrick. It has change my world. I started the drawing course in May and found Patrick a few months ago. I can't believe what I have learned from Stan and Patrick. They are the best teachers I have ever had. I know my drawings aren't perfect and I have a long way to go, but I am only doing this for the love of creating art and have no plan to do it professionally. The first picture is what I just finished from the anatomy course with Stan, but I posted it because everything I learned from Patrick truly helped me created this drawing. I think it makes it even more special learning from them because they are truly wonderful humans and we really seem to have a shortage of that in the world these days. I will be joining Patrick's Anatomy Of Style Auditorium after my work Christmas bonus comes. I will also start oil painting and already have Proko course and course from Patrick to begin the journey. I send the greatest thanks possible to both Patrick and Stan. So thankful for both of you. -Mark Miles

Thanks, Mark, I'm humbled :)

What a wonderful comment! Patrick and Proko are such great teachers. I feel so lucky to be able to learn from both. I like how you organized the values in the first drawing. It looks like you’re getting a lot out of these courses!

Very nice work! Your drawing looks elegant.
@johananvogelenzang
Looks great!! where do you get the reference photos from? are they free to use? @Marco Sordi
@johananvogelenzang
Not sure if I’m at wizards level yet since I’m not even at half of the course but I definitely know that I learned a ton of stuff. Really enjoy drawing the figure by using the techniques and materials of Patrick. The way the charcoal flows on the newsprint is beyond satisfying. here is the progress I made since the course started. Feels good! Some figures from imagination, a few streams of consciousness and some draw alongs with PJ 🤠
Melanie Scearce
Really beautiful exploration of texture @johananvogelenzang. Charcoal is so fun to work with.
