Thanks for the encouragement to revisit the well. Getting better with the basics, but still a tendency to put down a wash, not quite as attentive and careful… and against my better judgement attempt to correct it (that I term, “tinker with it”). It’s evident that I do this by the wash in the negative painting square! I understand the desired effect of a smooth and uniform wash and know how to correct it. Solution needs to translate into my instinctive behavior.
When doing the gradient wash, If I'm trying to go from dark to light (top to bottom) is it better to angle the paper towards the dark? Having the pigment and water work with gravity. Same going if I want to try gradients going left to right or vice versa.
