Structure of this painting was most definitely chunkable!. Started, wash of sky into the area of tree tops. Put in the trees and land of the background. Then chunked the far water in two pieces, (left then right) and foreground water separately Having avoided the main subject to this point, did the first wash on the lighthouse with red building. And then the foreground land with shed. Began second and third washes, chunking in the same fashion ‘til done. Then, made corrections, darkened some values, added details. All not part of Liron’s exercise… but I wanted to experiment a bit. I loved doing the lighthouse. Also found a lot of enjoyment attempting to craft the foreground water reflections. However, “I was lost in the woods” and land of the background. A more abstract, softer and less detailed background might have provided better atmospheric separation. As is the viewers eye is distracted from the central subject (lighthouse, service building and shed. Colors: Lemon Yellow, Quinacridone Rose, Phthalo Blue (GS)
