LESSON NOTES
Let's delve into the penumbra, and review all 12 modeling factors.
COMMENTS
Here are my studies, done with a mechanical pencil, and I just wanna say Mr. Dorian Iten, it's common courtesy to tell someone if an exercise is gonna take hours and still end uo with mediocre results😭😭😭.
Seriouslu though, a critique would be very much appreciated, I know something is wrong, I just can't tell where it all went down.
The reflected light on your "form shadow" is too bright, it should be somewhat darker than your "half tone" (unless you have a very strong light source close to your sphere, in most cases it's not that bright).
The reflected light on your "cast shadow" is also too bright. It should be a lot darker and only slightly brighter than the rest of your "cast shadow".
Hoping that actually rendering the sphere will help me to remember all the 12 factors. Plus, I find rendering just meditative and relaxing at the end of the day :)
@Dorian Iten what is the difference between the penumbra and ambient occlusion? Not clear to me
Ambient occlusion = a type of shadow that is created when ambient light is blocked from reaching a surface. I like to think of it as the beginning of the cast shadow where the object completely blocks light before it's exposed to ambient light and reflected light.
Penumbra = The softness around the cast shadow. This is the border area/edge of the cast shadow.
