2021/11/8. Good morning everyone. Here's my second attempt of this assignment. I softened the core shadows and add some halftones around them to make the forms appear rounder. As Stan did in his video I've left the left area of the hand undefined and added strong outlines only around the the shapes on the right side to make the viewer eyes been caught by that zone. Though there still is room for improvement I think I can say that compared to the first attempt this one is much better. Thanks and have a good week.
LESSON NOTES
In this lesson I will show you the proper way to practice drawing the hand.

The first of my hand studies. I think I like drawing hands, despite how difficult they are.

Nice!
If you look at the core shadow's edge on the middle finger Stan has drawn, notice how it's softer than the cast shadow's. The soft edge signals a rounded form and the sharp edge a cast shadow. In your drawing, the core shadow edge is almost as hard as the cast shadow edge, and we don't get that same feeling of form as we get in Stan's drawing.

hand test and study. Learned a lot with this. Thanks, Stan for the great example! :)
After watching Stan's video I made some corrections. I think I could improve the shape of my fingers by simplifying and maintaining more of the gesture shape. I think I overcooked the hyperextension/arch of the fingers.
needed to foreshorten the index finger more and make the thumb a bit shorter as well as the pinky may be a bit short and wide , I also feel i over exagerated the form of the tendons. If you notice anything else off please do tell me.
This drawing went into a totally different direction as I thought. Struggling to get proportions and movement right I did let go of precision and it turned out into a more wild version.
Looks good! Might look even better if the thickness of the thumb was a bit more varied along its length (with a more tapered end maybe).

Cool!
It would be nice if you included the dark halftones, to reveal the roundness of the forms (especially the round form of the 1st dorsal interosseous), or used crosscontour lines. If you want to save time you could do drawings with only core shadows (I think Jeff Watts does this sometimes. I attached a drawing I found on google). The transition around the terminator is usually where most of the form change is shown.
Hope this helps :)
