I did 29 the most interesting ones. Some are better than the others, but I can’t pinpoint why. I tried to juggle many things: avoid symetry, design interesting shapes, use lot of straight lines, stay in the ballpark with proportions, have clean lines… Looking at it now, could use more line variety, I guess. But what I really want to know is, did I miss the point of the exercise, because to me it looks too clean and uptight. Is that wrong in an assignment like this or is that just a normal tendency with some people?

This one was interesting. Actually, it got interesting after I quit measuring things. It was very tedious and took way too long. Then I started eyeing things and the process got much better. Although the proportions are still off, the process is enjoyable.

I came back to this exercise, because I don’t think I was having the hang of it. Maybe a bit better this time, but a lot of room for improvement.

Maybe I took the geometric character of the rooster to literaly? Wasn’t sure what to do with the hippo. The buffalo… Looks like a logo for something?

Carter Goodrich because… Ratatouille! With mixed results. And Steve Huston. Although, I definitely bit off more than I can chew with that one.

With nonfunctioning printer, I used the opportunity to work on my proportions. After I was finished, I cought myself coming back to drawings a few times to try and make the lines more interesting. Looking at it now, it’ s definitely not obvious.

I was struggling with this one. It took some time to relax and get out of the mindset from last project. And yet, it stil seems sort of, “uptight”.

Eye opening and frustrating. But kind of in a good way. Just starting to realize the depth of the linework mastery, where I’m on the shore, just dipping my toes in the water.

I didn’t upload the drawings when I made them and looking at them now I see things that I can improve on. There are more than probably some things that I’m also not seeing. But redoing them now after few months into the cousre woul’d maybe be missing the point.
