Yeah not happy with this one. This was like my 10 th attempt at the pinguin. I seem to stay stuck in the 'lost lines' stage here.
Cant get the form right and I keep adjusting, therefore making the lines darker and darker..
How to come from this to the searching sketch lines. I thought if I just keep trying over and over, but after the 10 th one I m pretty done :p
Anyone else has this problem? Or knows how to get past this?

This is what I like about drawing digitally. I can make my "tought vomiting lines" (love that term) or make some rough layout lines with a broad brush and than put that in the back with low opacity (like putting a piece of paper over it on a lighttable) and go over it with cleaner, now more confident lines. Does that make sense?

Im having a hard time keeping the proportions right with these swoopy lines, the envelope-thing might help me a bit, good advice! Im not ready to share anything jet because i know i can do it better than what I've done so far. I think the step from drawing a simple pear to these boots was a big leap. The snail was a bit more beginner friendly for sure.

The proportions were very hard on overall, and than also the proportions of those laces but at the same time trying to keep it in longer lines..

Who's in for another round of boots after watching this? 🖐️

Redid the camel…I think it came out a little better. The first one the legs were too far apart and I didn’t emphasize the hump enough. Who knows maybe the first is better?

There both good. I feel like in the second one (on the right?) you felt more confident of the lines and applied them with longer strokes?

Drawing from imagination today. I think I'll use this little guy in an upcoming lesson.

Hello everyone:) Here is my assignments, the shoelaces almost drove me crazy😁 but I very liked this task

I had 2h to spend on all of this. So, given the time it took, I'm happy with the result.
For the camel and captain skull, I did it traditionally on paper. For the l boots and the snail, though, I went a bit crazy with my tablet and tried stuff that hasn't much to do with the assignment. But still, it's about lines. :p

So, this one frustrated me quite a bit. For the first two I just couldn't stop adding unnecessary details. I also couldn't bring myself to draw with my shoulder or my elbow. I almost gave up, but then I decided to draw on bigger paper instead of A4. I tried to be looser with my lines and simplify more, but I'm not sure if you can tell. I'm still rather happy with the last ones.

Level 1 - got caught up in the details, but decided to post it anyway.

Looking at everyone else's I think I may have oversimplified. That being said I did each one digitally and then with graphite on paper

I think simplification is pretty hard so the more simple it looks the more skills it takes maybe :)

Level 1 Snail. Much more relaxing than the boots. No laces lol

Anyone else feels suspicious about the shoelaces? I thought mmm this is a simplification exercise and those laces look way to complicated :p
Dont know if I should feel smart or just lazy :p

Levels 1 & 2: Funny enough I felt better about the camel compared to the snail. While I've done figure drawing before and understand in general how to generalize limbs with curves and straights, the snail is more freeform.
One question I'd have is how to handle different "elevations" when the line is more or less implied. Take for example the snail. On the neck section closer to the head, there is a clear change in elevation between where the snail touches the wood and the top of the snail's head. The lower part is more squished while body that is closer to the camera is tubular. How would one use line to express that plain change clearly or would that be something that comes with value later on?
Anyway, fun project. And no one get discouraged! There are many talented artists in this course and the only difference between them and us is practice. Don't get discouraged, keep at it, I'm right there with you.

Finished the level one assignment. Please let me know what you think!

Real good simplification of the boots. I also felt like leaving the laces out since they didnt feel simple :p

Here are my efforts. Snail wasn’t too bad. Boots were a pain. The laces are a little chicken scratchy, but I tried to tidy them up.
