@Davi Lo How cool! This is solid work, your time certainly paid off. I think @Rebecca Shay makes a pretty good point considering the lighting, so I'd like to add up to that! I'm not biologically qualified to discuss color temperature though (I'm partially colorblind 🙈), but I can talk about the overall lighting scheme and the value relationships. Basically, what I find is that a bit more contrast on the character might help bring up the scene! So I made a grayscale paint-over on top of Rebecca's edition of your original work, and here's what I added: . I made the bounce light areas a bit more bright, especially on her torso and clothes (when I squint at the painting, I feel like this extra contrast on the bounce lights makes it more clear to read the beautiful twist of her pose); . Added a rim light on the right side of the character to make sense with the big sunlight coming from behind (and it also makes her figure pop some more); . Lightened up the background a little more, especially on the surroundings of the character so that the darker values on her could gain more power; . And I added a few tweaks to try to make the scene feel more natural: a bit more sub-surface scattering on the drapes on her shoulder; a little light bleed on the strong highlight of the sword; and a bit more blur on the background for a stronger sense of atmosphere. Hope this gets the point across! Since I'm not a painter or lighting specialist, there might be more stuff to work on... but I tried my best, and these are the things I could find right now. Hope this helps!! Let me know if you have any questions or thoughts. Best of luck! And keep up the amazing work! o/

Wow thank you for all these observations and taking time to paint them out!! I feel that maybe some of the considerations might feel a bit unnatural, like adding a rim light puzzles me a little bit since she's in shadow, but overall I think I get the point! Thank you again for the help, really appreciate it, will take those into consideration!!

Wow I love her pose and the fabric! There's something about the color temperature of the lights that bugs me. I tried making the sky less blue and it looks better. If I only look at her, I feel like she's indoor at night with a firelight as a source. But behind her it shows strong broad daylight but she's standing in the shadow so it makes things a little complicated. What complicates things is I'd expect a lot of bounced light considering the marble texture of the building. That's a lot of text to say, something is off with the color temperature and I have no idea how to fix it. I would love to see if you found a solution though.

Love it! The storytelling and execution:) If I had to nitpick, maybe the far side of her face is sticking a little bit too much outwards, making the face a little flat? Also not a critique but a recommendation really: maybe try out a slight noise filter over the top? I often find it makes digital paintings feel more polished/unified. Can also help with some colour banding that you might get on some darker pieces. Something very subtle though. Matter of taste really:) Great job!:)

Oof thought I wasn't going to make it, so close Was a bit hesitant on going for a more gloomy tone but it's a theme that speaks to me a lot and hopefully I was able to properly communicate it! Hope you like it!

Here is my life movie poster done in my typical digital painting style. Here is a little background… in real life I’m an engineer with a doctorate in engineering biomechanics (basically the physics of human movement). I am also a martial arts nerd. I have a brown belt in taekwondo, and I have studied some Brazilian jiu jitsu and some filipino martial arts. I grew up watching martial arts movies. Naturally my movie would be a combination of engineering and martial arts. The title is Second Law, which the equations dealing with this kick would be impulse and momentum (it’s the equation in the lower left if you care), which is just a variation of Newton’s second law. The title would also be based on the story line that it is me doing a come back to win after focusing more on fighting from an engineering perspective (basically like the matrix… only I see things in engineering equations). My co-star, Bill Wallace, is a little nod to Bill “superfoot” Wallace. He was a martial artist that I admired as a child. I also could not resist the classic B movie cheesy tag line as a nod to theoretical physics. I had a lot of fun with this challenge, and I hope you enjoy!

Your work is amazing! I would like to know how do you come with the composition for your work?

Thank you!! For me personally coming up with the composition is one of the most fun parts of making an image. I usually try to think of ways to direct the eye of the viewer throughout the image in a way that sequentially tells the story while trying to make it feel fluid/natural, but it doesn't always work out xD I have the cloud lady and mermaid pieces as example, I tried planning out where the focal points would be and the direction I wanted to lead people's eyes, and I think the best way to do that is by contrast! People naturally look at what has more contrast first (rather it be value, color, shape, edges etc) so if you plan out a hierarchy of contrast and execute it well you can achieve that! That said, I'm still working on it, I usually end up putting unecessary contrast all over the place xD

Heya! Your works are downright gorgeous! Your control of colour, value, and composition is spectacular. I'm a sucker for a blue-green- orange colour pallete in artworks and that 3rd artwork is just simply *chef's kiss* Excited to connect with you too! ✨

Hi Andreas! Thank you for the compliments! You got yourself a really nice WIP yourself! I think that if you want to achieve a more realistic look to the texture of the skin you could try knocking down a bit of the brushwork and blending the transitions of the form so the nice sharper edges are used for abrupt plane changes (like the one you have with the eyelid and forehead). I personally like the suggestion @Joe Zavaletta gave of using smudge tools to achieve soft natural transitions, I also use a lot of the lasso tool to get crisp hard edges! I guess in terms of the texture part, having a good reference photo and being able to accurately translate it into your painting is a big help! Tbh I don't think I'm very proficient with rendering, but I hope it helps somehow!
