ASSIGNMENTS

Your assignment is to write a screenplay for the short film you’ll be making this chapter. The story prompt is “someone who wants quiet and someone who wants to listen to music are competing for control over the speaker.”

Outline

Start by outlining your story. I recommend organizing your thoughts visually with something like a flow chart. Visualize the moment to moment of your story and try to act it out.

  • What location(s) are you going to film at?

  • Who are your characters?

  • What are your characters doing?

  • How does the conflict resolve?

Screenwriting

Once you are finished with your outline, write a screenplay to figure out the specifics of how each action is going to play out and the wording of the dialogue. Don’t worry about polishing your screenplay too much yet, for now just get a first draft.
