Let's breakdown how squinting can be used in different ways! In this lesson we're covering how to use it to find values.

Fixing up the values to be a bit more precise. Can be hard to really see the subtle differences in values. More practice needed!

I see now that the neck folds are still too light and the edges are too sharp defining the shape in between the brightly lit ear and the face. I could likely darken the left side of the face a little more too.

Hi Morgan, Created a new drawing for squint values, more accurate. Thanks for critiquing last drawing.

i would love it if you critiqued this for me. With these two size by side using rapid eye movement back and forth. Tell me where you see it is off in proportion and measurements

I was surprised to see squinting at the background anchored the subject and gave the sketch some movement

Here is my HW assignment for the values portion. Decided to stop while I was ahead -- felt like I was starting to make some dicey moves. Excited to keep going!

Hello Morgan, my drawing for squinting for values part. I'm used to putting in edges before halftones, so got my stages a little mixed up

The lights have gotten a bit too dark with your half tones identify your half tones and lighten them so there’s a clear definition between light and shadow

You need to fill in your shadows on the side of the face to all the darker and part of the shadow family

Here is my assignment for values. Please ignore the noise in the shadow inside the hat area. It is my old printer that made the paper wrinkly. Thank you.
@lemonmerchant
Started from scratch after realising I scribbled too much over my shape study, values are a bit better here too
