I've just submitted my first assignment today, and there's already the next one. The teacher is clearly trying to work us into the ground :-D

ASSIGNMENTS

Practice pipe folds and diaper folds by building them onto a figure.

  1. Build a mannequin. Set up the figure so you can read how the drapery falls.

  2. Think shape → gesture → wrap. See each fold as a shape, give it a gesture, then wrap it around the figure. Keep in mind: Part, Position, Perspective.

  3. Make a thumbnail map. Use it to see the overall silhouette and edit your folds so the eye moves through the figure. Don’t just copy the photo.

  4. Attach your folds. Start with the end folds and wraps to tie the fabric to the limbs, then look for your pipe and diaper folds.

Optional: Once done, go over the top with red lines and study the new surface the folds add on top of the mannequin.

Deadline - submit by July 17, 2026 for a chance to be in the critique video!

Yeah, we went with a faster pace for the release of this course's lessons since people will generally be able to knock the assignments out in one sitting. I've really liked the feel of the pacing and how it's like an in-person school!

It's like being in school again! :D Every day I work makes me miss the structure that school provided... :skull:
