this is my attempt. The blue tracing on the back i made on my computer with my mouse, so its not perfect, but i i tried with my hand then :) hope theyre okay
My attempt at tracing, I still very little know about anatomy and the concept behind it. I just trace the form beneath using jack ham's figure drawing book and anatomical charts from google searches.
I hope i can get some feedbacks. I have a feeling anatomy will be the most difficult subject I've yet to learn, and it will be an interesting journey indeed.
Hey, I'm learning too but something that I've noticed is that you are not always aligning the striations with the actual direction of the muscle fibres. The ones I've noticed at a glance are: - Pecs (there should be 3 subgroups all originating at he the at the shoulder at the armpit level and one attaches horizontally to the clavicle, one vertically to the sternum and another one horizontally to the ribcage) - Biceps, triceps, forearms (all these should run longitudinally ie. same direction as the arm, as opposed to perpendicular to the direction of the arm like you have depicted them.) In this latter case I think you are mixing up volume lines (ie to give a sense of the volume of a shape) vs the actual muscle striations. I think it's a very fair confusion and a hard one to discern unless you have a good understanding of each muscle's function. I hope this feedback has been constructive!
This is the first time I’ve made something like this and honestly I was pretty frustrated at one point bc I couldn’t do the woman for the life of me, I stopped for couples hours and got back to it and it was sm better, I’m very proud for somebody who can’t even name those muscle that just did ! Lmao
I've never done any anatomy course before, so these are pretty bad- I think I'm going to hate doing this but I know I need to understand anatomy better to actually improve at all. So I have a goal to finish this class!
Wow! I had time to do 1 and got a little lost in the process. I couldn't tell what was going on at first because as Proko said initially, he hasnt taught any anatomy in the course yet. But I consulted 'Anatomy for Sculptors' otherwise I think I would have given up immediately. It's very interesting when someone asks you to actually see what is going on 🤯 Great 1st lesson, I thought I would hate this! I will attempt the others soon (and more neatly). Thank you 🙃
Basicly yes, you did it "right" but I think you missed the point a little.
You drew the shape of the muscles correct for the most part, but the lines going over the muscles look like an afterthought. These lines are meant to describe the volume of the shapes of the muscles. To show how they bulge out or stretch accross the form.
Also, your lines look very unsure and shaky, which is understandable, and will improve with time and practice. I did a quick sketch to show you what I mean, I hope it helps :)
Both work just as good. If you have a digital tablet and want to digitally draw over the images, those work just as well in teaching you the concepts as if you printed the images out. The goal is just to help you "see" the muscles under the skin.
No need for critique as its just intro assignement! Just nice to share to get into the habit. First time around with this video i was real confused with all the terms. But good old google helped me make sense of it :).
This was super hard for me, made me realize how little I actually know about anatomy. I'm really excited about this course and hopefully will gain some confidence! No need to critique as this is just an intro assignment, just figured I'd share.
