Now that you’ve all had some time to try the first project on your own, you can watch how I do it and figure out what areas you are exceeding and struggling with.
Here is my step-by-step demo on how to properly execute the first project for level 1 students.

Here's my two attempts. I'm only using a single pencil as I am a designer and attempting to find out how I can use few tools and work without erasing. First attempt 15 minutes. 2nd Attempt 20 minutes. My goal is to see how effective I can be at quickly representing complex shapes and shading. I also am using hatching rather than more traditional shading (as in Stan's demo) because I want to get better at that.

My second upload now that I've had a chance to watch Stan's demo. Pinched pear on the left was pre-demo, the one on the right after having watched the demo. I tried to incorporate some feedback regarding the edges of my shapes from my previous post, but feel I need to get the knack for it still.
Any feedback appreciated. :)

The first two pics are my first attempt before watching the demo and the last two pics are my attempt after watching the demo. I also changed the range of pencils I was using to match the ones in the video. Feel free to comment if you want to. Anyway, onto the next videos / projects.

Here is my pear after watching the demo (my brain stalled out doing the first attempt). Had lots of 'aha' and 'oh shoot' moments following along :P

My third pear, I tried to make it a little bit more appealing with the values, but I think I've done enough pears for now 😆 a critique would be welcome 🤗

The pear on the left was my first attempt, the one on the right is my attempt after watching the demo. I feel like I should have goner darker for the shadows... and made the lines for the shadow less dramatically straight.

Here are my first and second attempts at the pears! I personally don’t see much of a difference between the two; in the second one however, I understood more of where the light was hitting the pear and did my best to get an even blend of the shading

Also I’d love a critique on it from whoever sees! Thank you!

Alright, here’s the before and after watching this demo! I’m much happier with the second version than the first.

Hello.
It's my first upload my drawing here.
I wanted to have a job related with drawing 20 years ago but I lost my confident so I gave up.
Even though I'm having a different job, drawing is still my kind of hobby so I want to be good at it.
I already had a lot of trying and giving up many times before but I'll try again and be patient to keep going.
It was really hard for me to draw lesser dark value and lesser white value.
But it was interesting experience. I hope I can get advice about the drawing.
Thanks.

Here’s the full lineup. The one on the right is after watching the demo. I think this one has a much better value difference, but it’s could still be better defined. I also struggled with a bit of patience. At the end I might have gotten too eager to finish it and wasn’t as critical of certain choices. I think what I’ll focus on now is pen control to get lighter values and overall control.

After watching the demo I tried drawing a tomato (source: https://unsplash.com/photos/red-tomato-on-brown-wooden-table-hnyZg63sRCY).
I feel like the main thing I learned from this is that it's really hard to tell if something is "easy" or "hard" to draw. This tomato proved to be way trickier than I expected!
