Thank you so much for the critique and detailed notes. I thought I had rendered my gummy monster well, but compared to Jeremy's demo, mine looked pale. I was always afraid to study materials in art because of their complexity, but the series of lessons was really fun!
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

In this premium critique session, I review student assignments and show you exactly how to fix common material rendering mistakes. A major trap in digital painting is making everything look too soft. I will show you how to balance soft gradients with sharp highlights to make your textures believable.

You will learn the specific techniques needed to paint glossy ceramics, reflective metals, and soft velvet. I explain how to add sharp secondary reflections to make metal actually look metallic. You will also learn how to use subsurface scattering to make gummy materials look juicy instead of dull. Finally, I cover how to handle refraction in clear plastics and glass so the light bends correctly.
