Upon tracing this, I started to get a glimpse what Milt Kahl was doing...good god! I'm doing more of this kind of assignment! Very eye opening.

Drawings made with mechanical pencil, charcoal and ink. Gosh! I noticed how easy it is to try to imitate instead of looking for shapes and curves and also wanting to fix things!

Should we be posting our assignments in the comments or the assignment tab as I see postings in both?

This 10 out 15 pages for the Chapter 1 assignment, most have been done with lead 0.7mm pencil ,HB pencil ,and a blue prismacolor pencil. I see that I’ve been posting my Chapter 1 assignment is the wrong links, and I apologize for that. So, one last time, here it is. 10 of my 16 pages, and I used graphite, non-photo blue colored pencils, and gel pen. Please let me know what you think.

HeyGlen- Ha we are always so hard on ourselves.I dot think you jump right in with a little side of studying Burne Hogarths Head Drawing. I am nota fan of all of his books but his head drawing is so solid and really good for basics. Focus on structure more than portrait- portrait will not help as much as more solid draftsmanship based fundamentals. Hope this helps

The third and fifth attachments I did from life and the rest were drawn from movies. I will do 5 to 10 more pages asap. I did 5 pages in pencil and 5 in color pencil.

Hey! Loving the lessons so far. Question regarding characteristic features. What should I do when I can't seem to find any prominent features in a person (regular sized nose, regular eyes, everything pretty "average")? Should I somehow force it and emphasize whatever I feel like?

Everyone has some dominant feature- you just have to exploit the spacing or features. Pretty people are harder but what makes them pretty....focus on that feature to accentuate the appeal of that pretty face

All download- no assignment notes beyond what I suggest. At this time its just a suggestion of what to do on your own and have to obtain your own resources( draw at coffee shops, figure sessions or online model resources)

Hey @David Colman, regarding this assignment, is there an alternative that I could use for ref, other than going out to do observational. I currently work 6 day a week 9-6 and only have my evenings for drawings.

There‘s also City Walk Videos on YouTube where somebody just walks or drives through a city

Hey Matt,... maybe just watch TV but dont pause it. It can be baseball game, sitcom, reality TV. But just likein real life, you cant hit pause so make sure you work on those observational skills and act as if the subject is in front of you just walking by etc. Hope that helps
