Use the reference provided in the introduction to this lesson OR search and collect your own reference images of lighting that YOU feel are good lighting scenarios. (recommended)
As shown in the video, create a checkerboard egg and illuminate it based on each reference.Do this for 15 to 30 of these lighting studies on eggs.
HARD MODE Instead of just black and white “squares”, try the same process with the squares colored as RGB or CMY. It'll be fun!
EPIC MODE Design an egg based on a Fabergé egg, and light it in three interesting ways based on reference. You're also welcome to mix and match different lighting scenarios!
Did some self critiques/correcting mistakes after watching the week 9 critique vid. Main areas for improvement were:
* General value accuracy
* Making sure the core shadow is clear which is critical for the form to read as 3d
* Making sure cast shadows and regular shadows properly wrap around the form otherwise it'll read as flat
